Genshin Impact earned $176.4 million in its first month, while Honkai: Star Rail secured over $130 million in the same timeframe.
Like a new movie opening below its predecessors' box office, Zenless Zone Zero's initial earnings are lower.
Zenless Zone Zero, the latest title from miHoYo, generated approximately $99.8 million in mobile revenue during its first month of global availability. Despite this significant financial milestone, the game’s initial performance trails behind the company’s previous major releases. Comparative data indicates that Genshin Impact earned $176.4 million in its first 30 days, while Honkai: Star Rail secured over $130 million during the same timeframe.
The analysis, which covers the period from July 4 to August 4, 2024, utilizes data from mobile intelligence platforms including Sensor Tower and AppMagic. While the game achieved a cumulative revenue per download of $4.94, it experienced a notable decline in daily revenue shortly after its launch, dropping from a peak of $5.19 million to approximately $670,000. This trajectory contrasts with the more stable revenue patterns observed during the initial release of Genshin Impact.
Geographically, the game’s mobile revenue is heavily concentrated in China, which accounts for 40% of total earnings, followed by Japan at 30%, the United States at 9%, and South Korea at 8.7%. Japan currently leads in revenue per download at $13.10. While the figures provide a clear picture of the game's market penetration, the analysis notes that variations in data—specifically regarding the inclusion of third-party Android stores in China—mean these totals represent estimates of gross player spending and net revenue rather than absolute figures.
