I think this game is earning between 38 to $43,000 a day in ads right now because of the really depth rewarded ads the switching out of Ninja officials and 38 to $43,000 a day. So it's anywhere between 45 to 50% of revenue.
Yeah. Yeah. Exactly.
It's diceen [music] jacks. We're the two and a half [music] gamers, the midnight crew talking UA adverts and game design too. Mate, feeling shaku [music] bringing the insight. We're rocking those vibes till the early day. Master eyes on the prize, tracking data through the cyber space. Feeling stacks like a wizard in [music] disguise real us to the high. Two and a half gamers talking smack. Slow hockey sick got your back. Ads are beautiful, they like the way. Click it fast, don't delay. Uh-huh. Uh-huh. [music] Uh-huh.
Uh-huh. [music]
Yeah.
Hello.
Hello.
Is this a showdown? Is this a draft showdown?
Old battle drama. [laughter] This is Two Enough Gamers and we're talking about the game called Draft Showdown and my name is Montarage.
I'm Felix Broberg.
And we are your hosts and we actually worked on Battle Legion before. Yeah. Felix, did you did you work on it as well or No.
Nope. I didn't have the pleasure, but I did play it a lot. I love the artwork and I
Yeah, I think I even bought some APS in it if my memory serves me correctly.
No, you didn't. Mh.
Well, I did even though I was I was actually working on it. So, this is an iteration. I think I still I still like it and I'm going to play it afterwards.
Well, don't worry. I I can I can, you know, express my my opinion and
talking about your opinion.
Well,
I still like it. But I still like Bet Legion, which like is it still live?
No.
Yeah, it is. It is. and I will show it. I have it somewhere in my 5,000.
Let me say this.
Say it. Say it.
There's actually a new book from our friend Toy. If you don't know,
so there's a book from our friend Toy, which is literally called I Taught You. So
I told you so.
For those who don't know, Toyid is like pretty much one of the OGs in the industry was like advising Supercell back in the days and didn't take the shares which we always joke about and he does not. But he finally I guess [laughter]
so mean he finally put uh a lot of heis into this book. He always have this like excellent presentation. I think it's in Pnan in GIC where he kind of goes around some of the latest industry trends and again he he's a product uh guy. So again I highly recommend you can go check it out. Why fairness wins in freeto play by Toyman. So there you go. You can go find it online. I think we'll put in the link if I find it.
I have somewhere I have the link.
Yeah. Yeah. You have the link. Yeah.
I told you so.
That was it. If you want to have some game design knowledge base pumps. Back to Battle Legion and Trauma.
Battle Legion. Trauma from the past. No, no, no. It's not from Trauma from the past.
Why is it true? [ __ ] off, man. Like, it was a great game. Look,
look.
Oh, but Legion was a great game for sure.
Yeah.
What was the what was the issue about
Legion? You couldn't
on the game design. That was the problem.
Too many guns.
The UA.
Let me first let me first [laughter] go over the game and we can talk that.
No, honestly, I believe
and I'm going to I'm well okay. I will not talk about I believe
actually like fourth or fifth time somebody copied Battle Legion. Yeah. Like this is not even copied this iteration. Bet actually copied in much more raw form. Yeah. I believe this game still hasn't said like it's last words.
You mean the core?
Yeah. Yeah. Okay. For sure.
Core. Yeah.
Core for sure. That's why it's being kind of taken out because it's very good core. Give me the screen and
we we actually can talk about what we are actually talking about. So I'm very glad that we are continuing this road of voodoo doing more midcore stuff.
Really? What? What do you mean? is arena 2. [laughter and gasps]
Why? Tell me why. I exactly know how this game will play out.
What's your arena?
Need to check like six or seven.
Okay, whatever.
67. Six seven.
Yeah, because you can leave it playing like that.
No, no, I wasn't. No, it's it's actually four. It's actually four.
See, there you go. Anyway, so again, I'm very glad that we're continuing this uh series of Voodoo doing more midcore stuff. I think it's very healthy for them and also healthy for the market. Somebody's again jumping on this and this actually hybrid casual midcore.
Yeah. Yeah.
So it's again very very healthy. Good diversification. Perfect. And you can literally see how voodoo is slowly learning on the shark.
So not voodoo, it's by other different
Yes,
it's voodoo and
published by of course as usual. So guest lab. Okay, so it's guest lab.
What's the game about? Let's go into the core. So this is an auto battler,
which you may have guessed by us mentioning battle legion from left and right. And what's happening here and was the main difference is that battle legion by now you would be kind of finishing the match because you would just battle automatically and that's it and that was it.
No, not really, man. You're still in in between.
You press button and it's rolls and fights.
Yeah, but then you Okay,
I'll show you later. I forgot already.
So, what actually happens here? They put in rog light elements and since mate and his amnesia kicked in to keep his integrity.
Shut the [ __ ] up and play the game. Wait, what was your problem?
So, you have the rog light element here where you are actually choosing the units. The units are still going from your deck which is quite small but you already see the iteration here which means it's extremely simplified because you're not putting your army composition army whatever stuff like here I need to put these guys there and these guys
there and like this build whatever it's extremely simplified you click some buttons I actually don't even need to click this buttons I show you now
yeah show
see there's this timer on the bottom that if it actually goes to the end of it will choose for me
so again
what will choose that's that's the
I'm guessing assassins because it's the best unit here in this three choice combo but
yeah based on based on the opponent yes
based on FK especially on this opponent see so we start flashing here and if it goes without that he should choose I think assassins no choose TNT okay which is not that of a choice yeah
good guess mega TNT okay let's Okay. TNT with whatever this [ __ ] Anyway, so you choose these things and those are again your cards basically from your deck and you can directly counter the opponent during the match which again it's
already iterating on the battle legion formula because battle legion formula the moment the match start you can do [ __ ] It's just like fights and that's it. Here we can actively counter our guy because we see that he has a lot of like
snails
pretty much snails
artillery
which are [ __ ] artillery but actually he has a lot of these assassins which means like we are not building archers actually because they would kill them immediately so we actually you know we backst step each other
which by the way is the first unit that you get in battle legion as first because it's the exact same lineup and setup but I can see the units being the same. Yeah,
completely.
Because this meta is designed by Peter, by the way, the actual designer of the system design of Battle Legion
really still. Yeah, it's it's like he's the one the units and all these other things. And see, now we're winning because we're countering the guy and his combo. Again, you have active gameplay here, which is completely different to Battle Legion because Battle Legion was
pay attention to what's happening when you actually lose. You have a comeback
unit. Yeah, you have a comeback mechanic which gives you advantage on the card. Yeah.
And some cards also have these like bonuses like see for instance this card I can get double I can upgrade them.
You can even get additional cards from these if you use mastery points on some of the units and level them up with mastery points and so on and so forth. But still it's actually a little bit more similar to Clash Royale here because we're actively countering what's happening on the screen which again didn't happen at all with the automated uh gameplay of Battle Legion. The game play now itself plays like pet battle legion like this last part actually placed but again even the thing that it's on four wins is a different one because again we have four rounds and now that we ended the four rounds we get the rewards which are again stuff here which we can now boost. These are the mastery points I was talking about. So let me get some to my assassin and and that's it maybe. and then an ad which is very
beautiful.
Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Today's episode is brought to you by PVX partners. Developers now have a new way to fund their marketing. It's called PVX card. Yeah, this is very very juicy ad. Lots of coins. There's al also a cap on how many how many ads you can watch in this screen. I'm already run out of it.
So you're not going to watch an ad here. And then you see this is the typical thing. You have these like this is exactly same progressions but legion. You have different arenas. These different arenas go here and unlock different units. Gives you different rewards. If we go to unique section, it's ex exactly the same thing where again here we have our deck and these different units they unlock on different C arena 2, this guy in the six and so on so forth and the raft pass which would never [ __ ] happen in battle legion because they're putting units behind battle passes. So directly pay to win legendary unit by the way which again
that's why this do
probably would [ __ ] kill you.
Oh really?
Yes. Mercilessly.
Hello community. Can you pay my bills? Oh no we are closing the company because you couldn't pay the bills. Thank you very much. Thank you for making our our
lives better.
One of like this [snorts] is actually quite nice iteration. It's not just like guys took battle legion. Let's just copy it. So first thing that they iterated here is simplification. This this is the main thing. So
notice the deck just four cards even if they enlarge it later on later inas it will be still very simple. There's no unit placement which was in my opinion the biggest problem of battle legion that at some point unit placement matters so much that you need to build your turtle strategy or whatever catapult in like left corner
that like
Yeah. And it and especially when new unit comes in and you need to switch this whole thing all over again where here a new unit comes in like okay like get get me rid of this guy and I just want to put snail in and uh that's it and I just switch my deck in battle legion this would never happen because I would need to switch this this this this this and usually my whole strategy would need to change and it was actually one of our biggest friction point back then so that's that's getting rid of [snorts] yeah and then the other iteration ation.
As I said, of course, units being locked behind premium stuff that's there. The other iteration is the rog light thing, which is the most important one because it gives you active gameplay. It gives you counter possibility. It gives you a lot of things that keeps you in the match hooked on
rather than leaving it on your table and letting it just spin forever, which was again, as I said, automation was too far in at some point. We have these packs that you open which are exactly the same as you have saw here. So pretty simple shard gacha. Nothing really to it. So the more arenas I go higher, the more units gets into the pool, the harder it will be get to more specific units. So on so forth, but again this can be skipped quite easily with money.
That's four day, right? That's four a day, right?
What do you mean four a day?
Bit packs you can guess, right? Or is it four per? you can in in other areas
resets. [snorts]
Okay.
So, there's some limitation of course to like how much currency you can get per day, but yeah, it's
I can get new new packs in 10 in 10 hours. So,
okay. So, it's reseted. But okay, it's
four day then.
It's like a chess system in real.
I know exactly how this plays. some packs for ads, some free currency, some more free currency, currency for an ad. By the way, this is scaled nicely. This is this is very important because this is all
they're really good likeary economy.
Voodoo knows what they're doing on the ad side.
Yeah, that's what I want to say.
Mastery points. This is the best at placement machine I think where you have two free at placements and then the one which is basically their version of carousel that they put in here only one slot and then you can refresh it once a day also. Very cool. Great.
Yeah, this is very nice and I think I never seen it in this simplified form.
Yeah, it's only
No, it's true.
Way more. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. So, it's either carousel of six and then like three ad placements and this is a nice combo of like
I'm going to recommend this to try. This is really clever.
Yeah. Yeah. It's It's very nice. Then we have the knowledge stuff.
Making notes.
No stuff. 14-day access means only for 14 days.
Yes. Yep.
Okay. So,
two weeks should be it's like a Yeah, it's like a light way of saying it's a subscription. We'll remove it for two weeks.
Perfect.
Yeah.
Ranked mode again somewhere later down the line. And content is currently under develop. I'm guessing this is cleans, but again, it's not there. And yeah, there's draft pass, which is the battle pass version. At the end of it, there should be our guy or not even end of it, but shards of our guy, which is the legendary pirate captain currently. Then there's the where is it? Here. The commander path. This is actually the thing that they took from where you have this internal level where each time, for instance, if I upgrade the unit here,
it gives me these commander points. See? And those are pretty much like internal level that is scaled based on your like all your other units. So I can now go here and get the pack basically. And by the way, if you open the pack, you can get more uh stuff from the pack if you watch that. But not this one.
Not this one. Yeah,
this is scripted one, but normal packs you can get also that. But you see like this is pretty much a power progression like similarly to your king having more HP and your towers having more HP in Clash Royale where our whatever units like just additional stats here plus damage plus HP that's it. So overall very nice progression and nicely casualized. You can see it in the art. Art is very casualized. It's not like some heavy art fantasy whatever. Everything just looks quite funky. And again, you can really really, you know, pin down the units to bet the legion. Assassins are literally
assassin. Yeah, exactly. Like snail is basically catapult.
Catapult. Yes.
Then we have stuff like
shell bro.
Shell bro.
That's that's that's RKU. That's RKU.
I guess so. Sniper again. Very very similar unit. I'm guessing somewhere there would be like Yeah. B tank.
Very cute. This one compared to Battle Legion, right?
Yeah. Yeah. It's it's funky and and cute and
Yeah. But I still prefer Battle Legion art than this.
Maybe too.
Bet Legion art was also cheap like big heads and small small legs
or Agent B. But this is even more towards
Yeah. Yeah. Yep. meme site or whatnot. Especially
it's more marketable, right?
I guess so. We'll see.
Yeah. I'm kind of [clears throat] in between. I can't I can't decide like
but the core iteration is really nice. I I need to hand it to them. Like really good job guys. I haven't seen this one yet because usually So there was the social point game if you remember top
troops that did that legion didn't work out. I added merge core to that again didn't really work out or didn't scale shots fired but again you can only fire
merch because
the merch wasn't scalable in metas. Unfortunately, we kind of talk about that, but still it was still automated and now finally someone put active gameplay into it. So that that's very nice. We'll see how
you you're always talking about PE games being automated and just play themselves and now it's it's a bad idea.
What do you mean play themselves? I like my games that I review to play themselves in the background while I play the other acting games that I really like to play.
Exactly.
That just applies to the review games.
Review game. Okay,
but automation is great. You just need to know why and what to automate. Like this is like this was like this has a different paradigm compared to battle legion because battle legion was based on this premise that you do a lot of strategy and actions before the battle and then you just you know execute here.
You don't really do any strategy before the battle just like your unit combination and then you do all the strategy during it of like which unit to choose which unit to counter your opponent which card to pick and stuff like that. So, it's a different different setup. And I know we even added active skills at one point to Battle Legion. Didn't do [ __ ] regarding metrics. So, just saying.
Um, can I say from the ad side that the the rewarded ads is nice if you go in the store, right, that I think on the rewarded ad side, there's not that much besides the the shop placement that you showed earlier. Not that much innovation. There's seven rewarded placements in total in this game. It's 2x coins on the win screen. That's capped, right? There's a consolation reward if you lose. So, you can watch a rewarded ad to get some kind of reward even if you lose a game. Uh the bit packs, the four once a day, you can double it when you open them with a rewarded ad. Uh that's four a day,
right? And then the freebies that you showed in the shop. So, the extra coins, extra chips, and then if you don't have enough chips, you can actually watch a reward that it pops up if you're actually missing some chips. And then that re-rolling shop one. That's just brilliant, right? But I argue that the nicest, and I have no idea how they've done this cuz they've done two iterations on interstitials. That's actually super interesting. So they have interstitials after basically you run you run like a level. I don't know how they segmented but I personally didn't see I saw interstitials but I saw it only twice but there's a lot of comments that people are saying about interstitials but what they're doing is I watched most of these rewarded videos in one session and then they started showing interstitials in the rewarded slots. So going back to our our episodes were super sonic, right? So definitely I hit the point where I've watched eight
or nine rewarded ads that my per unit value of watching another impression had gone down so much that it's better to show an interstitial. But then the weirdest thing or not the weirdest but the most impressive thing because I've tried to do this three times with different clients and failed is they showed a goddamn two backtoback interstitials and it wasn't a Google one. So basically Google loads multiple interstitials now. They're grouping them together to make their ads longer cuz they want their ads longer. But this was just them loading two interstitial ads right after each other because it was from different networks.
So Google So Voodoo figured out a way basically to load interstitial from Mintrol and then it was like a applo interstitial.
So the double dipping interstial.
Yeah. Double dipping. So like they're like yeah this is too short. I'm going to yeah show you interstitials.
So
wow. they like what happens is like it's hard to load the ads and get that to
like manage syncwise because the mediations kind of fight you on it. So there's always a lag or you crash it and yeah these guys they did it. So I'm just I have no idea. I sent a message but it was like a couple of hours ago. So they haven't replied to me. I'm begging them to tell me how they did it. But
that is the biggest
No, I mean maybe I get lucky and or they're like I'm sorry I cannot talk to you now. [laughter] I'm too busy earning ad revenue. [laughter]
Did anyone say revenue? Oh yeah. This episode is brought to you by Fastpring, the no drama D2C partner that's been scaling with mobile publishers for over 20 years. They're fast growing, profitable, and seriously reliable, which is more than you can say about most vendors in this space. Anyway, whether you're launching a new web store, replacing your current D system, or adding a backup plan, Fast Spring is
here for you. Visit fastspring.gg to set up your web store today. Fastprint.gg. Hello, Fastpring. Thank you very much, guys, for sponsoring this episode. The only thing I think they're kind of missing is the app open ads, but I'm sure they'd get to it because it's voodoo if it would make sense. But uh yeah, I have no idea how they loaded two interstitial ads in a row.
To have open ads,
it doesn't make sense. They would have it.
Not in the genre, man.
Yeah. [snorts]
But so
well, no one might take numbers.
Ad revenue. Yes. advert numbers.
Yeah. So, ad revenue. So, I think this game is earning between 38 to $43,000 a day in ads right now because of the really depth rewarded ads. The switching out of
43
38 to 43,000 a day. So, it's anywhere between 45 to 50% of revenue.
Yeah. Yeah. Exactly.
Probably offerable could work here. I'm just thinking about right now as well. It's that type of audience where time rich people would work on it. But yeah.
So was the sorry was the overall
double it.
Double it. Yeah. At least.
Yeah.
So
So 120k a day
and you know like who is really good with live ops? Kinoa because most mobile games leave serious revenue on the table and it's almost never the game. It's game ops. So Kinoa is here for you. It's system for mobile games, flows, live segments, inapp messages, push AB testing, all in one place, you know. Go there kinoa.ai, book a demo, see what your game is already leaving money on the table.
Wait, what happened
today?
Yesterday,
yesterday something scaled up, but they're scaling up, huh?
No, no, that's like an event.
Well, if you hover over the the dot on like under generate.
Jesus Christ.
No, it's down. [ __ ] hell. Do I need to do it myself? It's under the X.
No, it's here, man. It's generating insight.
Click here and click note for sensor AI analytics.
Oh, it's the draft pass. Yeah, it's new season.
Classification.
Yeah, it's new season.
So, new season always happens.
Yeah. Yeah. So with nice nice spike to 70k and active users is already at
400
400k. That's yeah really good.
So yeah, double that. Uh and then you're going to not obviously now with the the new season spike, but yeah. [sighs]
What's the traffic? Uh US in the first place. Oh, nice. Good. [clears throat]
Okay. Next, UK, Germany, Vietnam,
Indonesia. That's pretty good. Yeah,
that's that's very good.
But how is the voodoo portfolio looking? Is this
Yeah. Yeah. Let me let me double check here. So voodoo portfolio on last year regarding daily IP revenue is looking quite interesting because there's now different competitors going for the first place in their IP side and it's being still owned by Castle Clashers which is if I understand not really slowing down. Second place marble sword. Third place with app chat now. And then we have loop sword and mob control. Still
do you want to change the downloads there? I just want to see.
Yeah. Yeah.
There.
Download wise mob control paper.io
because those
How much do you want to bet that other is all helix jump or something like one of those old time?
No. That's all together like they have giant portfolio, man.
Uh what's the castle clashes? Actually, it's in a little bit of a decline, but downloads are still very strong. Maybe they're switching more towards other venue. Yeah, they're definitely doing something there because you see how the the AU goes up sharply. So maybe they're kind of trying some new things here. Look at Geos. US South Korea. So pretty. Yeah. Old Batman. Oh, sorry. This is not active users.
Active users.
Oh, where's that?
Active users. We go.
India. There you go. India.
There's there there's there's the answer.
You see this red thing? If we take it out.
Yeah.
Then it's it's still
it's still okay.
It's okay.
They're doing something with it. But uh still it's the top IP game in the portfolio.
So is this going to be their saving game then?
Saving saving
saving
saving game.
Yeah. More. Yeah.
They need more. Uh I think it will be good. I guess it will be another
man. Like it's it's pretty good. I'm I'm looking at Yeah. I'm looking at this game for for a while. I know Andre was playing this. I saw a few few videos like the creatives for it and like h let's see it's not there yet. I think I was looking at in June.
I'm expecting something like a peak of maximum 200k per day.
Yeah, I think 250 300 like it's exactly like all the games that we review recently
man something similar curve like question.
And again if you have 10 of these
Yeah. If you have 10 of these you win that that's that's the strategy. Okay.
Like 255. Exactly. Like I expect some some kind of a curve like this. Like scale up to 200 300k per day and then
keep it like 200
cruise control. That's it.
Yeah. Yeah. Do we again?
What what do we call these kind of games where they're 5050?
Should we call this something special?
It's hyper casual. But it's
casual. What do we call this?
Yeah.
Hybrid casual. Hybrid
invasion was 50/50 like three years ago or five years ago.
Yeah, it's hybrid casual, man. Hybrid casual. This is it.
Yeah, it's done. It's done very nicely. And again, ads are quite meaningful in this one.
Yeah.
How much did you say, Felix? Did you expect this to make
45%. Yeah.
Okay. So, but
this is going to go down, man. Like, no, no, no. That this is only Yeah. This
100k still maybe 120. I will. Yeah,
very interesting data point on the next
radar for sure.
Very interesting.
Very interesting.
Very.
Show us the money match. Shake that money machine. Money matching machine shows that you create.
Yeah, exactly. Mass battles. Yeah.
Here. Here. H. Yeah, exactly. Well, see if somebody did market
PGC Helsinki 2020. Yeah, look. So, what is interesting is the the actual let's see last 90 days and the split I still you know what I you know ranted about last time. I'm not sure if actually our listeners saw it yet, but anyway, it's Facebook still up in here, which is really weird, but there is Supplin and Unity. There's a little bit of integral and and definitely Google. So, honestly, I think this should be way more AppLamin, Unity,
and Google than Facebook. But who am I to judge? Who am I to judge? cuz I can.
Didn't they try that before? Like this giant blob of epin.
Let's see. I mean, it's still not like 50%.
And you want the more plavin? Why? Because it works for
because it works like [ __ ] crazy.
Wait, wait, wait, wait. So, so you see those for my untrained UI. If you go back there,
are these all the companies that run blended campaigns?
Facebook doesn't.
Yeah. Tik Tok doesn't, Unity does, Mint integral does, Google does, and Apploving does as well. Yes. So on Facebook, I'm pretty sure they are doing just purchase campaigns, which are kind of doing a lot of good ad revenue on top of it as well, but it's more expensive. M
or they do blend it with just sending ad
revenue in purchase campaign purchase optimization which if it's done by default just connecting those events together it's terrible because you're getting more ads revenue in small increments of of signals rather than the purchases. So you're getting terrible traffic. Maybe, and I'm thinking this might be the case, they're actually sending the ad revenue in batches to Facebook and combining it with purchases. So instead of just sending every cent, you're sending every 50 cents or every dollar or whatever and then it makes sense, but it's too much work. And usually if you just run purchase campaigns better or since this is also ad revenue game and kind of blended game they might be sending let's say engagement events like stage four reached and optimized for that which means better retention and more
time to watch ads as well.
Uh Jakob I speak fluent mate I can translate that. Facebook, get your [ __ ] together and make a gaming blended roas product, please.
Which will never happen. Which will never happen. Which will never happen.
Anyway, so yeah. Okay, fine. So, this is this is the this is the split.
Don't they have like a new AI device, Tamagagoi, now?
Who?
Facebook.
Facebook. Who?
Yes, they have.
Nobody cares.
Yeah, I don't care. Exactly. Thank you. Thank you. They could earn they could earn so much more money from launching blended roas.
Yeah. I mean, I was pitching this 3 years ago. I like, "No, no, no. This is we don't really
You know that this is the company that flushed down 80 bill for virtual reality.
I I mean, they're now they're now moving a little bit closer to playables and you know where they put playables between stories." I was like, "Okay,
good job."
This is the same company. I'm so frustrated with Facebook. This is the same company that if they don't think you're a gaming company, you don't have rewarded ads inside of the monetization manager dashboard. You have to request it through AI and it always denies you.
Just what?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Go there, man.
One of your if you don't ask, you don't have it.
Yeah, but they fired everyone, so I can't speak to everyone. There's like two humans left.
Ah, so you're just being shut down by AI.
Okay, that's playable. So, I told my boss I [music] made a playable app with Playable Maker. And he said to me, "What language did you code it in?" And I said, "I don't know. With Playable Maker, all you do is [music] drag, drop, click, and it does it all for you." So, again, he said, "What language did you make in?" I went, "I don't know." English. At the end of the day, [music] as long as the Playable Maker does it all for you, why do you care? It's just like magic.
Yeah. It's It's an actual game. I mean, you can really play the whole game.
Yeah. which I mean I would be you know very much interested in playing the whole four rounds.
Oh that's not real game. Those some of those knights would die by this time.
Yeah that's true actually. You are right.
Yeah.
What was the revenue from battle legions?
Huh?
What was the lifetime revenue of battle legions?
Battle legion?
Yeah. Legion legions. I don't know. You can you can check it out in the
This is going to be bigger than that for sure, right? This is
Yeah, it's Yeah, I bet. Of course. Of course.
What do I say?
Yeah. Okay. So, it's not actually four. Four mil four, but
10 mil.
10 mil. Okay. This going to have
right
without the counted in.
No, it's not. says it looks 7.3. So I round it up.
All right. Okay. Okay.
Okay. Okay. Fair. Okay. Fair.
Okay.
Well, you should have listened to me and put in interstitials, right? I told you this,
man. Yeah.
Kill kill.
Doesn't matter, man. Like now it's not relevant anymore.
You can give me the m I can I can show.
Yeah. Later. I just want I just want to play.
I just Yes. I just want to play. No, I I mean I can I can finish this but doesn't matter. So this is this is the the uplavin. No, this is Unity actually. This is Applovin. I think it's the same playable which can load. Doesn't matter. So look, this is something I like.
There we go.
This is something I like.
Plus 4x
plus 4x. Exactly. So they are actually listening which is nice and trying even this.
Oh that's nice.
Which is nice for sure. So yes I saw but
now it's like
this is basically mob control.
Yes. No no no no no. Not this. Wait we have more. We have more like mob control. So
dinosaur.
Yes.
What the [ __ ] Why do you not choose dinosaur?
Exactly.
Yes.
Why?
Yeah. I would immediately go for the
Why? There's like a sheriff going after you.
Why not?
Dinosaur.
Damn it.
Too bad.
I think it's just like this is the whole topic of this ad. Like people waiting whenever.
Yeah. Here's your mob control. Oh,
wow. What is this one? He's AI.
Yeah, that's AI.
That was AI, man. So, here is here's your mob control tubes and whatnot.
You mean Mario tubes?
Yeah, I mean, [laughter] still
mob control. Yeah. So, there is actually like a lot of these and it's all 59 seconds. So they know what they're doing.
Oh wow. This
Yeah, that was Hero Wars kind of stuff.
Yeah.
So they they're using Yeah. Yeah. They're using a lot of lot of different creative concepts which I like and also different kind of
See, it's better.
Yeah. Now it's Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Yeah. Now it's Now it's Vet Legion. Yes. Now it's Vet Legion.
I think it's better for for the eye. It's like looking
was that oil drum actually a character?
Yeah. There is. Yes, in the stage three or four.
So, it's 1,00. Okay. But this is last three days. 1,200 new creatives. So, yeah. No wonder
they are kind of scaling and and growing. So, it's, you know, again, like they know what they're doing.
Especially battles,
especially if they put [ __ ] exclusive legendary units behind battle passes. That spike is all that legendary pirate captain.
Yeah. I mean that's how it works now.
Yeah, of course. Like that's uh you know that's uh it's called but those are just skins now. Brawl Stars would put stuff in in their passes.
I don't know if that's what that's what you want to buy now.
Yeah, of course.
That's why you get it cuz gotas work.
Exactly.
Make money.
Exactly. And the thing is like then do you want to just put it at the end of the battle pass or just get it instantly?
It's shard space man.
Okay. So it's shard ga. You need [ __ ] ton of shards. So it doesn't matter if you put it you actually want to put it in front
because you can start to play with it and then you you feel like you need to
upgrade it. It's different gacha. This is not like binary gacha. [snorts]
Okay.
Do you think the matching system is real yak or is it 100% fake?
I think it's both. Yeah, I think so as well.
Look, man.
I mean, man, I I only lost once.
Any PVP game will have a rigged matchmaking system because you want to control the win rate.
Yeah. You want everybody to win. You don't want anyone to lose because, you know, it's a curve and we don't want normal distribution because what like we lose half of the players because they lose. No, we don't. There's actual studies that people consider 70% win rate fair. like actual studies by, you know, nature or whatever science that 50/50 isn't considered fair. People consider 70% win rate fair. And what you do with these games, you bumped it all the way to 95 in the early game
and you rigged it all. That's
and then then
and then you get great retention.
Yes.
And it's not like
but then it's not fun anymore.
You need to pay.
Oh, well, we are warriors. Oh, yeah. Yeah. That was hard as [ __ ] People love the Oh, yeah. You're right. Thank you very much. Well, you do you want to go on the podcast sometimes? You're really good friend on my phone the whole time.
There's there's other ways to solve this, of course.
Yeah,
but we are warriors is not a PvP legion.
We are warriors not a PV.
Why? That's why one small fact to basically summarize this episode. Voodoo just really knowing what they're doing on game design. This this is a good this is a great game.
UA definitely admonly game design is much better. This this is much better than two years ago. Voodoo.
Oh yeah.
That's for sure. Yeah. Yeah. Let's see.
As I said, the iteration is very clever.
So
this is why they are using a lot of a lot of Facebook because it's all [ __ ] fake.
Yes. The Mario plant. Yeah. Yeah.
Shell, bro.
Shell, bro. Yeah, exactly. It's
literally Plants vs. Zombies.
No. My god. Oh my god. Look. So that's why it's all Facebook because this [ __ ] works there.
Even Sentinel Towers. Oh my god. They copied literally every unit. [laughter]
Doesn't matter. But it I mean it's a good inspiration. I mean it's an old game which is dead.
Yeah. Dead. Yeah. For sure.
All the gamers that are actually were like playing this like they have no idea there was a game called Battle Legion. Although I was was looking at some of the battle legion like recently and the reviews and like I was playing this game long time ago and you totally [ __ ]
this up after I just I just started work playing it like okay well that's what happens as soon as you see these type of ads you know it's [ __ ] expensive.
Yes it is.
If you see all of these like it's really expensive. So, so having this
for fun playbook.
Yeah. If you see all these creatives and also all these like number of downloads and they're growing like this is not cheap like activity.
No, they have like 30k downloads a day. This would be cheap. They would be doing like 100ks a day.
This is all paid traffic.
Hero Wars.
Yeah, this is Hero Wars. Yeah, Hero Wars with Hero Wars.
Why would you do Hero Wars? Hm.
I mean, you're doing 1500 creatives, right? You're going to do everything.
Hey, that's true. It's an interesting interesting iteration.
Bang bang bang. [snorts]
Yes. Go boy. Go boy. So all of these interesting I mean but the thing is even battle legion if you did anything else it was really bad retention which I mean at that point in time I mean it's not relevant anymore
fake
yeah and this is pretty much
idle cut gunner
this is idle cut gunner
idle cut gunner
literally
and then walls Okay. Because back then, yeah, any any fake ass wasn't really
h
no AI.
Nothing that I see in I mean besides the one that I that we saw already.
This is all all.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Rash
all that we saw. No worries.
Yeah. So, yeah, guys. AI. Now I'm the, you know, now I'm preaching AI creative. No,
no, no. I have bad battles. If you want to know,
those two are definitely Yeah.
Yeah. Okay. Sure. But this is just like
background noise.
Yeah, you can buy this on stock images.
Oh, just
that was video. That was not image. She was moving.
Yes, that you can buy there also videos just not stock images, just bank of videos, man. What's wrong? What do you have against me? Anyway, so yeah, I don't really think so. Guys, anything AI, if you want to know like what kind of AI I mean, come to the east, come to Eastanbul to our event and I will talk about it because
by this time this is out, we already done it.
Maybe yes, maybe no.
Maybe yes, maybe though.
We'll see.
You never know.
You never know.
And we do.
And yeah, exactly. And we never know as well. Anyway, so this was actually pretty good. I like this game and
everybody should play and everybody should also make a comment at the video and tell us what you think about it game as well and the voodoo new strategy as well and subscribe and join Slack channel and see you next time. Bye-bye.
Bye.

Voodoo is successfully transitioning into the mid-core market by applying a hybrid-casual philosophy to complex genres, most notably through the auto-battler Draft Showdown. By stripping away the friction associated with traditional unit placement and integrating roguelite mechanics, the title shifts the player experience toward active, counter-based gameplay. This strategic simplification has allowed the game to achieve significant scale, currently maintaining 400,000 daily active users and generating approximately $120,000 in daily revenue.
The monetization framework relies on a sophisticated blend of high-volume rewarded ad placements and in-app purchases, specifically bolstered by the introduction of a Draft Pass. With seven distinct ad placements and a double-dipping interstitial system, the game effectively maximizes revenue per user. This approach mirrors the company’s broader portfolio strategy, which leverages titles like Mob Control and Castle Clashers to bridge the gap between casual accessibility and mid-core depth. Analysts expect Draft Showdown to follow a similar growth trajectory, with daily revenue projections peaking between $200,000 and $300,000 as the title matures.
Growth is further fueled by an aggressive user acquisition strategy that prioritizes high-volume creative testing across diverse networks such as AppLovin, Unity, and Google. By utilizing assets that evoke legacy titles like Plants vs. Zombies and focusing on mass-battle hooks, the company maintains a competitive edge in the US market. While the reliance on hybrid-casual monetization remains a core strength, the lack of robust blended return-on-ad-spend tools on platforms like Facebook continues to present a challenge for scaling these complex, multi-revenue-stream titles. Ultimately, the success of this model demonstrates that casualizing mid-core mechanics, when paired with advanced ad-tech integration, provides a viable path for sustained industry growth.
