Zenless Zone Zero, the latest action RPG from miHoYo, achieved a significant global launch on July 4, 2024, generating $3.69 million in mobile in-app purchase revenue within its first 24 hours. While the title secured a strong market entry, topping global free-to-play charts and reaching 5.9 million mobile downloads, its initial revenue performance trailed behind the company’s previous major releases. For comparison, Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail earned $4.6 million and $8.3 million, respectively, during their own first-day windows.
Geographically, China served as the primary revenue driver, contributing 57.6% of the total, followed by Japan at 19.7% and the United States at 11%. Conversely, the United States led in total mobile installs with nearly 15% of the global share. By the time of its release, the game had garnered over 47.5 million pre-registrations, and subsequent data confirmed that total downloads across mobile, PC, and PlayStation 5 reached 50 million within the first few days of availability.
The analysis utilizes data from the market intelligence platform AppMagic to track performance metrics across iOS and Android. By positioning the game against miHoYo’s established portfolio and recent industry competitors like Wuthering Waves, the findings suggest a successful, albeit more modest, launch trajectory compared to the studio's record-breaking predecessors. Future performance will depend on the game's ability to maintain player engagement and monetization levels over the coming months.
