Innovative digital solutions are needed to bolster participation rates among blood donors.
Indonesia faces a persistent shortage of blood donors, necessitating innovative digital solutions to bolster participation rates. To address this, the Game4Life iOS application leverages gamification strategies—including point systems, leaderboards, and achievement medals—to incentivize both new and returning donors. By combining these engagement mechanics with practical utility features such as real-time blood stock tracking, donation scheduling, and hospital inquiry tools, the platform aims to streamline the donation process while fostering a consistent habit of altruism among users.
The development of this application is grounded in preliminary survey data from 94 respondents, which confirmed that reward-based systems and improved accessibility to donation events are primary drivers for donor engagement. The technical architecture of the platform has been validated through rigorous unit and user acceptance testing, ensuring that the interface remains intuitive and functional. These findings underscore that a user-friendly design is essential for successfully integrating gamified elements into public health initiatives.
User acceptance testing yielded highly positive outcomes, with over 98 percent of participants rating the interface and reward structure as highly engaging. These results confirm the viability of the application for real-world implementation as a tool for public health management. Future iterations of the platform are expected to expand its capabilities through the integration of social media connectivity, enhanced server reliability, and expanded donor bonus programs. By effectively merging behavioral psychology with mobile technology, this initiative provides a scalable model for addressing critical blood supply shortages through increased community involvement.
