The unified LTA structure, established in 2025, combined the LCS, CBLoL, and LLA. Riot Games will revert to separate, independent regional leagues.
Riot Games has announced the dissolution of the League of Legends Championship of the Americas (LTA), a unified structure established in 2025 that combined the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS), the Campeonato Brasileiro de League of Legends (CBLoL), and the Liga Latinoamérica (LLA). Effective for the 2026 season, the company will revert to separate, independent regional leagues for North America and Brazil, effectively restoring the LCS and CBLoL brands to their previous status.
The restructuring marks a strategic pivot away from the consolidated Americas model, with Riot Games citing a desire to return to branding that is more recognizable to the established fan base. Under the new 2026 framework, cross-regional playoffs will be eliminated, and each league will operate its own distinct season. The LCS will encompass North and Central American competition, while the CBLoL will serve as the primary structure for South American teams, including those from Brazil and the former LLA region.
Operational details for the 2026 season indicate a return to the 2024 competitive model. This includes specific qualification slots for international events: the LCS will qualify one team for First Stands, two for the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI), and three for the World Championship. The CBLoL will qualify one team for each of these respective tournaments. Both leagues will maintain partner team statuses for organizations such as LYON and Leviatán and will continue to utilize a guest team slot system to integrate tier-two talent from regional developmental circuits.
