Key Program. The 'Unbound' initiative enables indie developers to create games within the Vampire: The Masquerade universe.
Paradox Interactive has expanded its engagement with the independent development community through the Unbound initiative, which allows indie creators to develop and publish games set within the Vampire: The Masquerade universe. Under this program, developers are permitted to utilize the World of Darkness intellectual property, specifically within the 5th Edition setting, and retain up to 67% of their generated revenue. Participants are also granted the flexibility to monetize non-IP assets, such as soundtracks and artbooks, providing a structured pathway for smaller studios to contribute to the franchise.
Financial performance for Paradox Interactive showed positive momentum in the first half of 2026, with revenue reaching SEK 955 million ($100.6 million), representing a 4% increase compared to the same period in 2025. The company’s revenue remains heavily concentrated in the PC segment, which accounts for 85% of total earnings, while console revenue grew to 12.25%. Geographically, the United States remains the primary market, contributing over 85% of total revenue. Operating profit for the half-year rose by 1% to SEK 283 million, with a notable 37% surge in profit during the second quarter of 2026.
The company’s portfolio continues to be driven by established titles, including Cities: Skylines II, Hearts of Iron IV, and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. While the company has faced challenges with certain expansions, such as the performance of the latest Crusader Kings III content, overall operating margins remained stable at 30%. These developments coincide with the company’s transition to the Nasdaq Stockholm exchange in June 2026, marking a significant shift in its corporate standing within the global gaming industry.
