This role consolidates oversight of regional esports ecosystems. Antunes will manage the LCS, LLA, and CBLOL.
Riot Games has appointed Carlos Antunes as the new Head of League of Legends Esports for the Americas. This strategic leadership change consolidates oversight of the company’s regional esports ecosystems, including the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) in the United States, the Campeonato Brasileiro de League of Legends (CBLOL), and the Latin America Liga Latinoamérica (LLA). Antunes will relocate from Brazil to the Riot Games headquarters in Los Angeles to assume these expanded responsibilities, reporting directly to the Head of Esports for the Americas and the Global Head of LoL Esports.
Antunes brings nearly a decade of experience to the position, having joined Riot Games in 2016 to lead esports operations in Brazil. During his tenure, he was instrumental in the growth of CBLOL, overseeing strategic direction, broadcast development, and business partnerships with major global brands such as Mastercard, Gillette, and Santander. His leadership in the region is credited with driving consistent year-over-year growth in both viewership and revenue since 2018.
The transition marks a significant shift in the management structure of the Americas' competitive circuit. As his first priority in the new role, Antunes is tasked with identifying and securing a new Commissioner to lead the LCS. This appointment reflects a broader effort by Riot Games to unify its regional operations under experienced leadership to sustain the long-term development of its professional gaming leagues across North and South America.
