Riot Details Tier-1, Tier-2 Format for Americas League

Riot Games has unveiled the structural framework for the new Americas League, a consolidated professional League of Legends ecosystem launching in 2025. This initiative merges the previously independent League Championship Series (LCS), Campeonato Brasileiro de League of Legends (CBLoL), and Liga Latinoamérica (LLA) into a unified, two-conference system designed to streamline competition and align team partners with a long-term strategic vision.

The Tier-1 level will be divided into North and South Conferences, each operating with identical formats and calendars. The North Conference, based in Los Angeles, will consist of eight teams, including existing LCS organizations, a representative from the LLA, and a guest slot for a Tier-2 team. The South Conference will operate out of São Paulo. The competitive year will feature three distinct splits, incorporating cross-conference LAN events and the "Full Fearless Draft" format to determine seeds for global tournaments, including the Mid-Season Invitational and the World Championship.

The Tier-2 ecosystem will mirror this regional split, supporting North and South conferences with dedicated leagues such as the NACL, CBLOL Academy, and newly restructured regional leagues for Latin America. A promotion and relegation system will allow top-performing Tier-2 teams to compete for the guest slot in the Tier-1 conferences. This structure aims to maintain regional representation while providing a clear pathway for advancement. While Riot has finalized these operational details, specific information regarding the selection of Tier-1 partner teams and the integration of amateur or collegiate programs remains forthcoming, with further announcements expected following the conclusion of the 2024 season.
