The project integrated the Actus event editor and automated character generation systems.
It's like building a custom car with off-the-shelf parts and specialized tools to keep costs down.
The None in Three project functions as a strategic intervention designed to mitigate domestic and sexual violence among Caribbean youth through the medium of serious gaming. By leveraging interactive, point-and-click narratives, the initiative seeks to foster empathy, improve conflict management skills, and promote healthy relationship dynamics. The core thesis posits that culturally resonant, prosocial gameplay can serve as a scalable and cost-effective educational tool for behavioral change in regions where traditional resources for violence prevention may be limited.
To address significant budget and hardware constraints, the development team utilized a streamlined technical framework centered on the Unity engine. By integrating custom tools such as the Actus event editor and automated character generation systems, the project successfully produced a five-level experience that incorporates local voice acting and culturally specific storytelling. These technical choices allowed for the creation of complex, branching dialogue trees and immersive scenarios without the prohibitive costs associated with high-end motion capture or large-scale production teams.
The effectiveness of this intervention is evaluated through an integrated, non-physiological logging system that tracks player decision-making and emotional intelligence indicators. By analyzing how users navigate domestic violence scenarios, the game provides measurable data on the development of prosocial attitudes. This approach demonstrates that low-cost digital solutions can effectively bridge the gap between theoretical violence prevention research and practical, accessible applications, offering a viable model for social impact initiatives within the Caribbean and potentially other resource-constrained environments.
