The Game Business
Opening week sales were 63% lower than Battlefield 6's October debut. Sales were also over 50% lower than last year's Black Ops 6.
The launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 in Europe has underperformed significantly, with opening week sales figures trailing behind major competitors. Data indicates that unit sales for the title were 63% lower than the debut week performance of Battlefield 6, which launched in October. Furthermore, the game experienced a decline of more than 50% compared to the launch performance of the previous iteration, Black Ops 6.
These findings are based on GSD data, which tracks both physical and digital sales across a broad range of European markets, including the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and several Nordic and Mediterranean nations. It is important to note that the GSD figures exclude downloads via subscription services. Because Black Ops 7 is available on Game Pass while Battlefield 6 is not, the total player engagement for the former may be higher than the direct sales data suggests.
Market competition has played a notable role in these results, as a significant portion of the Call of Duty player base shifted toward Battlefield 6 in the weeks preceding the new release. Additionally, the title has faced challenges regarding reception, evidenced by low user scores. Despite the overall decline in sales, the game maintained the top position in both unit sales and revenue for the week ending November 16, 2025. Other notable market activity included a strong debut for Ubisoft’s Anno 117: Pax Romana, which sold approximately 2.5 times more units at launch than its predecessor, Anno 1800.
