The organization will manage and represent United States national teams for the inaugural Esports Nations Cup (ENC).
USA Esports has been appointed as the official partner to manage and represent United States national teams for the inaugural Esports Nations Cup (ENC), scheduled for November 2026 in Riyadh. As a non-profit public charity, the organization will oversee the recruitment, training, and selection of rosters across 16 game titles. Daniel Clerke, the esports director for USA Esports, will serve as the national team manager to lead these efforts.
The selection process followed a rigorous, multi-stage application overseen by the Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF), which required detailed disclosures regarding legal structures, national connectivity, and strategic marketing plans. The tournament, which will feature national teams from over 100 countries, is supported by a $20 million annual ENC Development Fund designed to subsidize travel, logistics, and promotional activities. Additionally, the EWCF has earmarked $5 million in incentives for professional clubs that release their players to compete in the tournament.
While the initiative marks a significant step in national-level competitive gaming, it faces logistical challenges regarding player release, burnout, and the integration of professional athletes into nation-based rosters. Furthermore, the event has drawn scrutiny due to its funding by the Saudi Arabian government, leading to concerns regarding "sports washing." In response, leadership at USA Esports maintains that active participation provides a greater opportunity to influence cultural standards of safety, inclusion, and integrity than remaining on the sidelines. The ENC is intended to be a recurring biennial event, with future iterations rotating between international host locations.
