This represents a 74% increase compared to the same period in the previous year. The growth was significant for the company.
Take-Two Interactive experienced significant financial growth during the second fiscal quarter of 2019, which concluded on September 30. The company reported net revenue of $857.8 million, representing a 74% increase compared to the same period in the previous year. Net bookings also saw a substantial rise, reaching $950 million, a 63% year-over-year improvement. Digital sales were a primary driver of this performance, generating $695.3 million and accounting for 73% of total net revenue.
The strong quarterly results were largely attributed to the successful launches of major titles, specifically Borderlands 3 and NBA 2K20. Borderlands 3 achieved 7 million copies sold, with 5 million of those units moving within the first five days of its release. NBA 2K20 reached 6 million copies sold during the period. Furthermore, the company’s back catalog continued to demonstrate longevity and market relevance, with Grand Theft Auto V reaching 115 million lifetime units sold, marking its most successful quarter to date. Other notable lifetime sales figures included 26.5 million units for Red Dead Redemption 2 and 3.5 million for Kerbal Space Program.
Beyond the second quarter, the company noted that The Outer Worlds, released shortly after the reporting period, exceeded initial commercial expectations. Plans are currently underway to expand the reach of that title through a Nintendo Switch release, projected to occur before March 31, 2020. These figures underscore a period of robust growth for the publisher, supported by both high-profile new releases and the sustained performance of established intellectual properties.
