This scholastic esports competition targets middle and high school students. It aims to foster interest in the sport through gaming.
PlayVS, in collaboration with the National Football League and EA Sports, has announced the second season of the Madden NFL Youth Championship. This scholastic esports initiative is designed to engage middle and high school students across North America, marking an expansion of the program to include Canadian students alongside those in the United States. The competition aims to foster interest in the sport through gaming and increase accessibility to organized esports at the secondary education level.
The tournament is open to students aged 13 to 18, with no entry fees required for participation. The competitive structure involves two online qualifier rounds scheduled for November 2025 and January 2026. The Grand Finals, set for January 20, 2026, will feature a 32-player single-elimination bracket comprised of the top 16 qualifier finalists and the top 16 scholastic champions from PlayVS’ official state and regional leagues.
As an incentive for participation, the overall champion will receive an all-expenses-paid trip for themselves and a parent or guardian to attend Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, California, in February 2026. By building on the inaugural season held in 2025, the organizers intend to further integrate professional sports branding with scholastic gaming, providing a structured pathway for youth engagement in competitive Madden NFL 26.
