This placement aims to increase the international visibility of BYD's brand, automotive products, and battery technology.
NIP Group has entered into a global strategic partnership with the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD. This agreement expands upon a pre-existing relationship between the two entities, as BYD has served as a sponsor for NIP Group’s Honor of Kings team, eStar.Pro, since 2021. The new deal aims to leverage the esports organization’s platform to increase the international visibility of BYD’s brand, automotive products, and battery technology.
The partnership focuses primarily on NIP Group’s League of Legends Pro League (LPL) team, which will feature the BYD logo on the left shoulder of its jerseys. While the promotional materials for the partnership highlight several of BYD’s automotive sub-brands—including Denza, Yangwang, and Fang Cheng Bao—these specific sub-brands will not be displayed on team apparel at this time. The sponsorship is limited to the LPL division and does not extend to NIP Group’s Western esports divisions, such as those competing in Counter-Strike 2 or Rainbow Six Siege.
Financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed. This collaboration follows the 2023 merger between the Chinese esports entity eStar Gaming Victory Five and the Sweden-based organization Ninjas in Pyjamas, which resulted in the formation of the current NIP Group. BYD maintains a significant presence in the automotive sector, holding 22% of the global plug-in electric vehicle market share as of 2023.
