The Saudi Esports Federation has announced that Riyadh will host the 2024 GCC Esports League Finals, scheduled for June 27–28. This event serves as the culmination of a regional tournament series designed to foster the growth of the esports sector across the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. The competition highlights the ongoing commitment of the Saudi government to establish the Kingdom as a central hub for professional competitive gaming.
The tournament features two primary titles, Rocket League and TEKKEN 8, with a total prize pool of $150,000 USD. The finalists were determined through an online group stage held in May, which involved 12 teams representing Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Notable organizations and national teams participating in the finals include the Bahrain and Oman national teams, Kuwait-based entities Unity Esports and Xenon Esports, and Saudi Arabian organizations Team Falcons and Twisted Minds.
The event underscores the broader strategic efforts within the Middle East to professionalize esports and provide a platform for regional talent. By hosting these finals, the Saudi Esports Federation aims to strengthen the competitive ecosystem and increase the visibility of regional esports organizations on an international stage.
