Berlin International Gaming (BIG) has officially entered the competitive Fortnite landscape, marking a strategic expansion of its global esports footprint. The German organization has signed professional players Lycian “Kiduoo” Kubelt and Troy “Kiro” Alexis, both of whom recently secured a third-place finish at the European Fortnite Championship. This move is part of a broader, long-term initiative to increase the organization's influence within the global gaming ecosystem, with a specific focus on the DACH region.
The primary driver for this entry is the upcoming Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Like many other organizations, BIG is leveraging the financial incentives provided by the Saudi government-backed Esports World Cup Foundation to support the recruitment of new rosters for the event. While the current roster consists of two players, the organization intends to sign at least two additional professionals to facilitate participation in future 4v4 format competitions.
Beyond immediate tournament goals, the organization plans to cultivate a sustained presence in the Fortnite community. This strategy includes the development of a creator program and the creation of custom map designs to drive fan engagement. This expansion complements the organization's existing portfolio, which includes professional teams in Counter-Strike 2, League of Legends, Starcraft II, Quake, Trackmania, and TEKKEN, as well as the operation of the Go BIG League, a regional FACEIT hub.
