This figure represents a 27.5% year-over-year increase in player spending. It also made Brawl Stars Supercell's fastest-growing title in 2020.
Supercell’s mobile title Brawl Stars has officially surpassed $1 billion in lifetime gross revenue, marking a significant milestone for the developer. This achievement solidifies the game’s position within Supercell’s portfolio of billion-dollar titles, which also includes Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, and Hay Day. The analysis, based on Sensor Tower Store Intelligence data, highlights the game's strong performance throughout 2020, during which it generated approximately $526 million, representing a 27.5 percent year-over-year increase in player spending.
The primary driver for this growth was the successful June 2020 launch in China, which resulted in the game’s highest-ever monthly revenue of $89.4 million. By the end of 2020, the Chinese market accounted for over $100 million of the game's total lifetime spending. Geographically, the United States leads in total player expenditure at $143.5 million, followed by South Korea and China. While the App Store accounts for 52 percent of total global revenue, Google Play dominates in terms of volume, representing 74.2 percent of the game’s 265 million total global downloads. Russia, Brazil, and Turkey are the leading markets for total installs.
Beyond raw revenue, the data underscores the game's competitive standing, identifying it as the top-grossing mobile MOBA in the United States during 2020. The findings illustrate the potential for Western developers to achieve sustained success in the Chinese market through strategic local partnerships. Moving forward, the focus shifts toward the long-term retention of these gains as the initial momentum from the Chinese launch stabilizes.
