The National Development Fund and the Social Development Bank have partnered to create these funds. The total investment amounts to $120 million USD.
The Saudi Arabian government has officially launched two new venture capital funds dedicated to the gaming and esports sectors, totaling $120 million USD. Announced during the LEAP 2024 technology conference in Riyadh, this initiative is a collaborative effort between the National Development Fund and the Social Development Bank. The program is designed to foster sustainable growth, drive economic diversification, and generate new employment opportunities within the Kingdom by leveraging the country's young demographic and increasing interest in digital entertainment.
The capital is divided between two distinct management entities. Merak Capital will oversee the larger fund, which is allocated approximately $80 million in working capital, while IMPACT46 will manage the remaining $40 million. These funds operate under the broader Gaming and Esports Financing Programme, developed in coordination with the Saudi Esports Federation to provide innovative financial solutions for the industry.
By prioritizing these investments, the government aims to establish a more robust and profitable gaming ecosystem within Saudi Arabia. The initiative reflects a strategic focus on long-term financial sustainability and the integration of the gaming sector into the nation's broader economic development goals. These efforts underscore a commitment to positioning the region as a significant hub for global esports and gaming activity.
