Riot Games has introduced League of Legends Game Changers (LGC), a new competitive initiative dedicated to supporting and highlighting women in the esports industry across the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region. This program aims to foster a more inclusive and sustainable competitive environment, drawing inspiration from the established success of the VALORANT Game Changers circuit.
The initiative is set to debut in August 2025 with a tournament titled LGC Rising. The competition will feature a structured format, beginning with eight teams divided into two groups for best-of-one matches. Top-performing teams will then advance to a double-elimination playoff bracket consisting of best-of-five series. The inaugural season will culminate in a live Grand Final held at Paris Games Week in October, providing a high-profile platform for the participants.
To ensure controlled and sustainable growth, the tournament will utilize a mix of direct invitations and open qualifiers. Participants will include top teams from existing regional competitions, such as Germany’s Equal Esports Cup, as well as organizations affiliated with the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) franchises. By integrating these existing structures, the program seeks to build a robust foundation for the future of women’s professional play within the League of Legends ecosystem.
