Since its March 2018 launch, PUBG Mobile has achieved a significant financial milestone. It is now the world's second highest-grossing mobile game.
PUBG Mobile has reached a significant financial milestone, surpassing $10 billion in total global revenue since its launch in March 2018. This achievement solidifies its status as the second highest-grossing mobile game worldwide, trailing only Honor of Kings. The title maintains its position as the leading mobile shooter by revenue, generating three times the earnings of its closest competitor, Free Fire.
The revenue distribution highlights a heavy reliance on the Chinese market, which accounts for 60.3% of total earnings. Other key regions include the United States at 10.7%, Japan at 3.7%, and South Korea at 1.6%. In terms of revenue per download, China leads the global market with $34.20, followed by Japan at $31.80 and the United States at $15.90. While China dominates revenue, India represents the largest share of total downloads at 21.8%, followed by China at 14.3% and the United States at 5.9%.
The game serves as a critical asset for its stakeholders, contributing 21.2% of Tencent’s mobile revenue and 87.4% of Krafton’s mobile sales. Data provided by Sensor Tower underscores the game's sustained performance, as it remains one of the top-earning mobile titles alongside other industry leaders such as Genshin Impact, Candy Crush Saga, and Roblox. These findings illustrate the enduring commercial viability of the battle royale genre within the global mobile gaming ecosystem.
