Tencent Esports is designated as the official esports technology partner for the OCA. This long-term agreement aims to accelerate esports integration into traditional sports.
The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has entered into a ten-year strategic partnership with Tencent Esports, designating the company as the official esports technology partner for the organization. This long-term agreement aims to accelerate the integration of esports into the traditional sports landscape across Asia by leveraging Tencent’s technical infrastructure and expertise. While the financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, the collaboration is intended to standardize and professionalize the digital framework for major regional esports tournaments.
Under the terms of the partnership, Tencent Esports will deploy its proprietary Tencent Esports Competition System (ECS) to support upcoming OCA events. This system is designed to ensure operational stability, fairness, and efficiency, building upon the technical foundations established during the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games and the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou. Additionally, the agreement includes the appointment of Yati Zhang, director of Tencent Esports, as the OCA esports manager, placing her in a key leadership position to oversee the development of the Asian esports ecosystem and event structure.
The scope of this partnership encompasses the 20th Asian Games in Aichi and Nagoya, which will feature 11 medal events across 13 distinct game titles. The inclusion of diverse titles—ranging from Tencent-owned properties to games developed by competitors like NetEase and Moonton—highlights the broad, multi-publisher nature of the upcoming competition schedule. By providing technical solutions for these diverse titles, the partnership seeks to facilitate the digital transformation of the broader Asian esports tournament landscape over the next decade.
