The UK children's charity NSPCC is collaborating with EPIC.LAN, National Student Esports, and SAF for this free-to-enter EA Sports FC 24 tournament.
The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) has partnered with EPIC.LAN, National Student Esports, and SAF to launch the inaugural Game Safe Cup. This initiative serves as a cornerstone of the broader Game Safe Festival, an effort designed to promote online safety for young people while providing educational resources for parents and children regarding digital well-being.
The tournament features a creator-led format centered on EA Sports FC 24, allowing participants to compete against prominent online personalities. Registration for the free-to-enter competition begins on January 3, 2024, with online qualifiers commencing on January 13. The event culminates in an all-expenses-paid live final held at Confetti X in Nottingham from February 10–11, 2024. The initiative also integrates with the Press Play for the NSPCC campaign, which encourages streamers to host fundraising activities to support the charity’s mission of preventing child abuse and neglect.
This collaboration highlights the intersection of amateur esports and child advocacy within the United Kingdom. EPIC.LAN, an independent organization known for hosting community-focused LAN parties ranging from 32 to 750 participants, provides the technical and operational infrastructure for the tournament. By leveraging gaming culture to foster safer digital environments, the partnership aims to expand the reach of the NSPCC’s protective programs, which the organization reports have benefited over 6.6 million children between 2016 and 2021.
