The LCS Players Association (LCSPA) and the Americas Valorant Players Association (AVPA) have launched a formal agent certification and regulation program for professional and aspiring players within the North American League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) and the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Americas. Supported by Riot Games, the initiative aims to standardize representation by providing players with a database of vetted, industry-experienced agents and legal professionals.
To achieve certification, applicants must undergo a background check, pay a $250 fee, and commit to a set of professional guidelines derived from established procedures in traditional sports, such as those used by the MLBPA. Certified agents are required to maintain at least one active client within the Riot esports ecosystem and must disclose potential conflicts of interest, such as financial ties to teams or publishers. While the program is not mandatory for players or agents, it provides a framework for oversight, allowing the players associations to act as intermediaries should disputes arise.
Riot Games supports the program by requiring teams to recommend that players seek representation from the certified list, ensuring that agents adhere to high professional standards. Although Riot provides institutional support, the publisher does not fund the initiative. By implementing these rigorous vetting and disclosure requirements, the LCSPA and AVPA seek to protect player interests and ensure that representation in the North American esports landscape remains transparent and accountable.
