The mobile battler Hero Wars: Alliance has reached a significant financial milestone, surpassing $1.5 billion in lifetime revenue and 150 million global downloads since its 2017 launch. The game, a flagship title for the GDEV holding company, generated $300 million in revenue over an eight-month period leading up to July 2024. Market data indicates the title remains a top performer, ranking as the 18th highest-grossing mobile game of 2024 and maintaining a strong position in global download charts.
Geographically, the United States serves as the primary market for the game, accounting for 39% of total in-app revenue. Other significant markets include Japan at 15%, Germany at 8%, Russia at 6%, and Taiwan at 4%. These figures underscore the title's continued importance to GDEV’s financial health, as the company’s combined web and mobile versions of the game accounted for 89% of its total revenue in 2023.
In a separate development, Game Gears—a subsidiary of GDEV—has reported substantial operational efficiencies through the integration of generative AI in game development. By utilizing a suite of AI tools for tasks ranging from 3D asset creation to game design and marketing, the studio claims to have accelerated overall development cycles by four times. Specifically, the studio noted that AI-driven 3D modeling processes are 10 to 30 times faster than traditional manual methods. While the studio emphasizes that human oversight remains essential for final refinement and quality control, the successful implementation of these technologies highlights a broader shift toward AI-augmented production pipelines within the GDEV holding.
