The 'Sky City' map was developed by Guild Studio with technical support from UMI Games. This project is a central part of an ongoing commercial collaboration.
Guild Esports has partnered with Sky Broadband to launch a custom-built Fortnite map titled "Sky City." Developed by the organization’s internal division, Guild Studio, with technical support from UMI Games, the project serves as a central component of an ongoing commercial collaboration between the UK-based esports entity and the British broadband provider.
The initiative centers on an influencer-led campaign known as the "Speed Showdown," a series of live-streamed events designed to drive user engagement. Participants can compete alongside prominent content creators, including Ruby "RubyPlays" Allenby, Sunpi, Tubbo, Archie, and LittleBunny. These creators represent a significant reach, boasting a combined audience of over 17 million subscribers across major social media platforms such as TikTok, Twitch, YouTube, Instagram, and X. The campaign incentivizes participation by offering players the opportunity to win real-world prizes provided by Sky Broadband.
This development occurs against a backdrop of financial instability for Guild Esports, which has recently sought a buyer in the United States to address an ongoing liquidity crisis. Despite these broader corporate challenges, the launch of "Sky City" highlights the organization's continued focus on leveraging its studio capabilities and influencer partnerships to maintain brand visibility and audience interaction within the competitive gaming ecosystem.
