This appointment is a strategic move to bolster the organization’s leadership team. It is the first in a series of planned director-level hires.
G2 Esports has appointed Henning Christiansson as its new commercial director, marking a strategic move to bolster the organization’s leadership team. This appointment serves as the first in a series of planned director-level hires intended to drive commercial success and diversify revenue streams. Alongside this new hire, the Berlin-based organization promoted Julius Ylänne to the role of director of esports, signaling a broader internal push to refine the company’s operational focus and expand its influence within the global esports landscape.
Christiansson brings extensive industry experience to the role, having previously served as a marketing and category manager for Logitech G’s esports division for nearly six years. His background also includes a tenure as a global project manager at DreamHack, as well as leadership positions at Strateg Agency and Nyheter24-Gruppen. His expertise is expected to support G2 Esports’ ongoing efforts to pioneer new initiatives and strengthen its market position.
The organizational expansion coincides with G2 Esports’ recent growth across multiple international regions. The company has actively increased its footprint by securing a Call of Duty League franchise in North America, establishing partnerships within the Valorant Champions Tour, and maintaining competitive rosters in Dota 2 and Wild Rift in Asia. These developments reflect a concerted effort to scale operations beyond its traditional European base, where the organization continues to compete in major titles such as the LEC, Counter-Strike 2, and Rainbow Six Siege.
