This strategic leadership change aims to bolster the management of the brand’s regional gaming festivals. Blomberg will assume oversight of operations for the 2024 calendar year.
The ESL FACEIT Group has appointed Guy Blomberg as the new Event Director for DreamHack Festivals in the Americas. This strategic leadership change aims to bolster the management of the brand’s regional gaming festivals, with Blomberg assuming oversight of operations for the 2024 calendar year. His immediate responsibilities include managing upcoming events in Dallas and Atlanta, as well as contributing to the execution of the 2023 DreamHack Atlanta festival.
Blomberg brings over two decades of experience in the gaming and entertainment events industry to the role. His professional background includes an eight-year tenure at Reedpop, where he played a significant role in developing major global conventions such as E3, PAX, Comic-Con, and EGX. Beyond his operational experience, he maintains industry influence as a board director for the International Game Developers Association and as the founder of the Games Industry Gathering networking group.
The appointment coincides with adjustments to the company’s regional event strategy. While DreamHack will not return to San Diego in 2024 due to scheduling conflicts, the organization continues to evaluate potential opportunities for future expansion within California. The 2024 schedule currently highlights major festivals in Dallas, slated for May 31 through June 2, and Atlanta, scheduled for October 4 through October 6. These events remain central to the brand's efforts to maintain its footprint in the North American esports and gaming festival market.
