Supercell’s real-time strategy title, Clash Royale, surpassed $3 billion in lifetime player spending as of July 2020, just over four years after its global launch in March 2016. This milestone cements the game’s status as one of the most successful mobile titles in history, ranking as the second-highest earner in the publisher’s portfolio, trailing only Clash of Clans. The analysis, derived from Sensor Tower Store Intelligence data, highlights the game’s enduring influence on mobile monetization design and its success in establishing a viable mobile MOBA category across both Eastern and Western markets.
Financial performance data indicates that the United States is the primary revenue driver, contributing $925.4 million or 30.8 percent of total lifetime spending. Germany and China follow as the next largest markets. Platform distribution shows a near-even split in revenue, with the Apple App Store accounting for 52.4 percent ($1.6 billion) and Google Play contributing 47.6 percent ($1.4 billion). Despite a decline in annual spending since its 2017 peak of $952.7 million, the game maintains a consistent global presence.
In terms of user acquisition, the title has accumulated 468.8 million lifetime downloads. While the United States leads in installs with 53 million, Google Play dominates the download share at 73.7 percent. The average revenue per download currently stands at approximately $6.40. These figures underscore the game's significant scale and its ability to maintain a high-value player base, even as it matures within the competitive mobile gaming landscape.
