He will remain for 30 days in an advisory capacity.
Chris Overholt has stepped down from his position as CEO and president of the publicly traded esports organization OverActive Media. After serving in the role for more than four years, Overholt is departing to pursue new professional opportunities. To ensure a smooth transition, he will remain with the company for 30 days in an advisory capacity. Adam Adamou, a co-founder and the current chief strategy officer of OverActive Media, has been appointed to serve as the interim CEO.
Overholt joined the Toronto-based organization in September 2018, playing a significant role in its growth and operational stability. During his tenure, he oversaw the management of several prominent esports assets, including the Overwatch League’s Toronto Defiant, the Call of Duty League’s Toronto Ultra, and the Spanish organization MAD Lions. His departure marks a notable leadership change for the company, which maintains a significant footprint in the North American and European esports sectors.
Before his time at OverActive Media, Overholt held various executive leadership roles across major sports organizations in North America. His background includes tenures with the Canadian Olympic Committee, the Miami Dolphins, the Florida Panthers, and Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, the parent company of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Raptors. This transition represents a shift in the executive direction of one of the industry's established publicly traded entities.
