Taobao, the e-commerce platform owned by Alibaba Group, has entered into a sponsorship agreement with the Chinese esports organization LGD Gaming. This partnership is specifically focused on the organization’s Dota 2 division and marks a return to collaboration between the two entities, which previously partnered during The International 2015. Financial details regarding the current deal remain undisclosed.
The sponsorship includes prominent branding placement, with the Taobao logo appearing on the center chest of LGD Gaming’s team jerseys. Furthermore, the Taobao name will be integrated alongside player in-game identifiers during the team's participation in the Esports World Cup held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. LGD Gaming is currently one of the 30 organizations participating in the Esports World Cup Club Support Program.
The scope of this agreement is limited exclusively to the Dota 2 division and does not extend to other teams operated by LGD Gaming. This targeted investment highlights the continued interest of major Chinese consumer brands in high-profile international esports competitions, leveraging the visibility of global events to reach competitive gaming audiences.
