Create free accountokay it's a fun game real starting off e3s 12 o'clock our first appointment so engaged it hi John how you doing sure my name is Anthony Johnson um I'm the CMO for a game stick game stick is a new on Console as I know you guys like to call it um it is a three inch long HDMI stick okay so that looks like that looks like a USB slightly bigger USB stick slightly bigger isn't it it's about three inches long it's a um uh it's effectively a games console um it plugs directly to the back of your TV it's powered by an A9 uh cortex arm CPU and a Marley 400 GPU it's got eight gig of memory on board and an expandable to 32 gig of memory okay and there's another part of it there is indeed there's a controller it's a controller so this is a Dev controller which is why it's gray it's a standard Bluetooth hid controller with your standard clickable hats two shoulder keys on the back and everything you'd really expect so the stick itself can support up to four of
these um although we have had seven connected at one go once but it's not just our controller so we're able it's a totally open platform we're able to support any Bluetooth HIV take that decision it's obviously you kind of want to be the biggest you can be you don't really want to support like the journalism I think you don't want to support other people but right you're being friendly well absolutely just want to keep I think the more open that we can be the quicker we will grow and it's as simple as that we want to remove the barrier any barriers that we have to Bringing affordable content to TV in terms of games that you're kind of in your production phase and kind of really hit retail so people tell us about when these will be available so they're coming out of July we've got uh distribution agreements with GameStop and Amazon in the us and we're with game in the UK okay but the interesting thing is so you've got this consumer facing thing you'll kick-start a success but you also have like another angle as well so can you talk a little bit about that that you it's going to be the service is going to be available through uh yeah so I mean we have well
we have what's behind game stickers the play Jam games platform it currently Powers a game service on 60 million Smart TVs worldwide so this is something we've been doing for years and GameStick is a as an additional platform so all of the everything that you see on game stick is powered by by play jam and we games put that platform as many devices as possible and in terms of the platforms and obviously it's like an Android Android games it's an Android based platform it is yeah but not all Android games will be on there so available well first and foremost we want games that are able to be operated with um a handheld controller we think those are going to be the best experience we can support touch base games through our own iPhone and Android application and that you can download to your phone or tablet but we are working with developers to bring games specifically for the big screen with a controller I think between that yeah this is this is the view I will expect to see it is yeah we tried to keep everything as simple as possible as intuitive as possible and
we've got a menu structure along the top that we can expand as we add more content we have a features section where we can promote certain content a play now section which will let you download and play any games that you've downloaded popular section and that sort of thing and turn back to you now and you're working how are the developers because the drivers have enough platforms to develop on at the moment you're adding another one but how are you finding the reaction we're finding very very positive I mean up until recently you know if you wanted to get your game on the big screen you had to deal with one of the larger console manufacturers that meant selling your soul finding fifty thousand dollars for a dev kit we're saying look we're opening up TV to absolutely anyone that wants to be on there for this for the cost of a game stick uh if you're a decent developer will give you the stick but for 79 you could be developing onto uh games four TV from the big screen as well so the price of a game stick yeah the price of GameStop will be 79 so we think are you making money we are making
money the retailers are making money and we think we're pretty unique in this space for doing that thanks for your time thank you cheers
The GameStick represents a strategic entry into the emerging unconsole market, positioning itself as an affordable, Android-based hardware solution for television gaming. Priced at $79, the device features an A9 Cortex ARM CPU, a Mali 400 GPU, and 8GB of onboard memory, expandable to 32GB. The hardware is designed to plug directly into an HDMI port and supports up to four Bluetooth HID controllers, though it maintains an open platform policy that allows for compatibility with a wide range of third-party Bluetooth peripherals to lower barriers to entry for consumers.
The platform is supported by the established PlayJam games network, which currently services 60 million smart TVs globally. By leveraging this existing infrastructure, the project aims to bridge the gap between mobile gaming and the big screen. While the system runs on Android, the content strategy focuses on curated titles optimized for controller-based gameplay, though touch-based games remain accessible via a companion smartphone application. The user interface is designed for simplicity, featuring intuitive navigation menus for featured, popular, and downloaded content.
Targeting a July release in the United States and the United Kingdom, the hardware is supported by retail distribution agreements with GameStop, Amazon, and Game. The business model emphasizes accessibility for developers, contrasting its low-cost development environment with the high financial barriers typically associated with traditional console manufacturing. By removing the need for expensive development kits, the platform seeks to democratize TV-based game development. The company asserts that this lean approach ensures profitability for both the manufacturer and retail partners, distinguishing the product within the competitive landscape of micro-consoles.
