The Ultimate Endgamers League (UEL) is expanding its competitive footprint into Africa through a strategic partnership with the Nigeria-based organization Game Evolution Esports. This initiative aims to integrate African teams into the existing UEL ecosystem, which currently features 12 teams based in the United States. Rather than establishing a separate regional circuit, the league intends to incorporate African participants directly into its primary competition, allowing them to compete for a share of the league’s $1 million total prize pool.
The expansion strategy involves the development of a hub system across the continent, beginning with a primary location in Lagos, Nigeria, followed by future centers in Ghana, Senegal, and the Ivory Coast. These hubs will facilitate remote participation for African teams during standard UEL match times, contrasting with the in-person format currently utilized by U.S.-based teams. To support this growth, the league plans to appoint an Africa regional manager and collaborate with local partners to select five regional game publishers or developers to feature within the league's randomized game selection process.
The selection process for the first two African expansion teams will culminate at the Omniverse Africa Summit in February 2025. Following an open qualifier period, the finalists will earn their spots to join the league for Season 10, which is scheduled to commence in the spring of 2025. This move represents a significant effort to broaden the league's international reach and diversify its competitive roster by bridging the gap between North American and African esports infrastructure.
