Ubisoft’s third-quarter fiscal 2022-23 sales report outlines the company’s financial performance for the period ending December 31, 2022, while detailing strategic shifts toward operational efficiency and brand-focused development. The company reported net bookings of €726.9 million for the quarter, aligning with revised targets despite a challenging macroeconomic environment. For the first nine months of the fiscal year, net bookings reached €1,426.3 million, representing a 2.6% decline compared to the previous year.
Key performance indicators highlight a significant shift in revenue composition. Digital net bookings rose by 11.2% to €1,209.9 million, while Player Recurring Investment (PRI) surged by 57.1% to €841.7 million, now accounting for 59% of total net bookings. Conversely, back-catalog net bookings fell by 19.4%. Platform distribution also shifted notably, with mobile gaming rising to 43% of quarterly net bookings, up from 7% in the same period the previous year, while console and PC shares decreased. Geographically, North America remains the primary market, contributing 53% of quarterly net bookings.
The company attributes its resilience to the strong performance of core franchises, specifically Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, which saw a 30% year-on-year increase in DARPU, and the Assassin's Creed brand, which achieved record player engagement. To improve future predictability, Ubisoft is applying a standardized production framework—previously refined through the Assassin's Creed series—across its broader portfolio. Looking ahead, the company confirmed its full-year 2022-23 financial targets and anticipates strong revenue growth for 2023-24, supported by a robust pipeline of new releases including Assassin's Creed Mirage, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and several mobile expansions for established brands.
