Minnesota-based esports organization Torrent officially ceased all operations in February 2023. The closure followed a period of inactivity for the organization, which had previously exited the Apex Legends Global Series and the Rocket League Championship Series in the fall of 2022.
The decision to shutter the brand was framed as a strategic pivot by its parent company, Wisdom Gaming Studios. Rather than continuing to operate as a standalone esports organization, the company opted to dissolve the Torrent entity and integrate its remaining staff, creative resources, and passion into other ongoing projects under the Wisdom Gaming Studios umbrella.
This development marks the end of an organization that had previously maintained a presence in major competitive gaming titles and employed various casters and content creators. The closure reflects a broader trend of consolidation and operational restructuring within the esports industry, as parent companies reallocate talent and focus toward core production and business endeavors.
