India led the market for downloads, contributing 15.5% of the total global volume.
The mobile gaming industry experienced a robust start to 2025, with global consumer spending on the Apple App Store and Google Play reaching $7.27 billion in January, a 4% increase over the previous month. Total global downloads also saw growth, rising 5.4% to reach 4.41 billion. This analysis covers worldwide mobile gaming performance, excluding data from third-party Android markets, to identify the top-performing titles by revenue and download volume.
Tencent dominated the revenue landscape, securing four of the top five spots. Honor of Kings claimed the number one position, driven by strategic Lunar New Year events, IP collaborations, and high-profile skin releases, which nearly doubled its monthly earnings. Other top-grossing titles included Royal Match, Last War: Survival Game, Whiteout Survival, and MONOPOLY GO!. The United States remained the leading market for revenue, contributing 29.8% of the global total, followed by China and Japan.
In terms of downloads, Garena Free Fire maintained its global lead with 37.1 million new installs, bolstered by a major collaboration with Naruto Shippuden. Roblox followed in second place, while Cat Chaos: Prankster emerged as a significant growth story, climbing 182 positions to reach the top five in absolute downloads shortly after its December 2024 launch. India stood out as the largest market for downloads, accounting for 15.5% of the global volume. The data also highlights a broader trend toward hypercasual survival-themed games, likely influenced by the ongoing cultural impact of the Squid Game intellectual property.
