Shift Up’s 2023 financial results demonstrate a period of significant fiscal expansion, characterized by triple-digit growth in both revenue and profitability. The South Korean developer reported an annual operating revenue of ₩168.6 billion ($125 million), representing a 154.5% increase year-over-year. This growth was primarily driven by a substantial surge in operating profit, which rose 516% to ₩111 billion ($82.4 million). Furthermore, the company achieved a net profit of ₩106.9 billion ($79 million), a marked turnaround from the ₩7.1 billion ($5.3 million) net loss recorded in 2022.
The primary catalyst for this financial performance was royalty income, which accounted for ₩164.4 billion ($122 million) of total revenue. This income is largely attributed to the success of the mobile title Goddess of Victory: Nikke, published by Tencent’s subsidiary Level Infinite. Conversely, revenue from self-published titles declined by 61% to ₩3.98 billion ($3 million), a downturn linked to the discontinuation of the mobile game Destiny Child. Geographically, the company’s revenue is heavily concentrated in Asia, which accounts for 98.5% of total earnings, while domestic revenue from South Korea remains a minor component at ₩1.28 billion.
These results arrive as the studio prepares for the launch of its premium console title, Stellar Blade, and follows the filing of an initial public offering application on the Korea Stock Exchange. Market analysts project that the company’s valuation could reach approximately ₩3 trillion ($2.3 billion) following its public listing. The financial data, sourced from official regulatory filings, underscores a strategic shift toward high-performing intellectual property partnerships and a transition into the premium console market.
