The action racing title will be a featured competition at the event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, this July. This follows its appearance at the 2023 Gamers8 festival.
The Esports World Cup Foundation has confirmed that the action racing title Rocket League will be a featured competition at the 2024 Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This inclusion follows the game’s previous appearance at the 2023 Gamers8 festival and aligns with a broader strategy to integrate major competitive gaming titles into the Riyadh-based event. The tournament is facilitated by the ESL FACEIT Group, a subsidiary of the Savvy Games Group, which is funded by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund.
The operational framework for this inclusion is supported by a multi-year partnership between tournament organizer BLAST and Epic Games, which grants BLAST the authority to manage esports competitions for both Rocket League and Fortnite. Despite this operational arrangement, official communications regarding the event include a disclaimer clarifying that the tournament is not sponsored, endorsed, or administered by the game's developer, Psyonix, LLC.
Rocket League joins an extensive roster of titles slated for the 2024 event, including Fortnite, Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, Overwatch 2, and various mobile gaming titles. This development underscores the ongoing consolidation of major esports properties under the umbrella of the Esports World Cup, leveraging established tournament organizers to manage high-profile intellectual property in the Saudi Arabian market.
