This change aligns the regional tournament structure with the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) seasonal model. The initiative aims to enhance the competitive landscape.
New Format. The League of Legends EMEA Masters will adopt a three-split format (Winter, Spring, and Summer) in 2025.
Riot Games has announced a structural overhaul of the League of Legends EMEA Masters for the 2025 competitive season. These changes are designed to refine the tier-2 esports ecosystem and align the regional tournament structure with the three-split model utilized by the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC). The initiative aims to enhance the competitive landscape by integrating content creators and veterans into the EMEA Regional Leagues (ERLs), fostering a more robust development pipeline.
The 2025 season will feature three distinct EMEA Masters events—Winter, Spring, and Summer—which are planned to scale in size as the season progresses. The Winter event will host 16 teams using a Fearless Draft format, while the Spring event will expand to 32 teams competing in regionally protected groups, culminating in a 16-team single-elimination playoff bracket. The Summer event will introduce a Swiss Stage format for 32 teams, eventually removing regional protections for the final 16-team playoff bracket to determine the season champions.
This competitive framework encompasses 13 distinct regional leagues spanning Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa, including major circuits such as the LFL in France, the TCL in Turkey, and the Prime League in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. By implementing these standardized, multi-stage tournament formats, the league seeks to provide more consistent cross-regional competition and a clearer path for professional development. The updated season is scheduled to commence with the Winter Masters on March 17, 2025.
