Riot Games is launching the 2026 League of Legends EMEA season with a new 12-team tournament called LEC Versus. The event is scheduled to begin on January 17, 2026.
Riot Games has announced the structure and schedule for the LEC Versus 2026, the inaugural event of the League of Legends EMEA Championship season. Serving as the official kickoff for the 2026 competitive year, the tournament is designed to determine the EMEA representative for the upcoming First Stand competition. The event will take place at the Riot Games Arena in Berlin, with all matches scheduled to begin at 17:00 CET.
The tournament features a 12-team field, comprising all 10 established LEC organizations—including G2 Esports, FNATIC, and Karmine Corp—alongside two guest teams from the European Regional Leagues (ERL), Los Ratones and Karmine Corp Blue. The competition format begins with a single round-robin stage consisting of best-of-one matches. Following this initial phase, the top eight teams will advance to a double-elimination playoff bracket, which will utilize best-of-three matches in the early rounds and transition to best-of-five series for the later stages.
Public engagement for the event begins in mid-December 2025, with ticket sales for the first four weeks of competition opening on December 17. Playoff tickets will be released in subsequent batches throughout January 2026. This tournament marks a significant shift in the regional esports calendar, emphasizing a high-stakes, multi-stage format to launch the 2026 season for European League of Legends.
