The game exceeded the revenue generated by other major titles during their initial three-year periods. However, it remained behind Clash of Clans.
Pokémon GO has established itself as a dominant force in the mobile gaming industry, grossing $2.65 billion worldwide during its first three years of operation. Launched in July 2016, the title has outperformed other major industry hits such as Candy Crush Saga and Clash Royale in the same timeframe, though it remains behind Clash of Clans, which generated $3.15 billion during its initial three-year period. These findings are based on Store Intelligence data, which tracks global revenue across the Apple App Store and Google Play.
Geographically, the United States leads in player spending, contributing approximately 35 percent of total revenue, followed by Japan at 29 percent and Germany at 6 percent. Platform-wise, Google Play accounts for 54 percent of the total earnings, while the remaining 46 percent is generated primarily by iPhone users. Since its inception, the game has achieved 521 million downloads, with players spending an average of $5 per download and $2.4 million daily.
The game continues to demonstrate strong financial momentum, with revenue in the first half of 2019 increasing by 19 percent compared to the same period in the previous year. Given this sustained growth, the title is projected to surpass $3 billion in total lifetime player spending by the end of 2019. These metrics confirm the game's status as a top-tier performer among Western-developed mobile applications, maintaining high rankings in global revenue charts three years after its initial release.
