This marks the company's 14th consecutive year of financial growth. Revenue increased by more than 15% year-over-year.
InnoGames, a German developer and publisher of mobile and browser-based games, achieved a record-breaking financial performance in 2020, marking its 14th consecutive year of growth. The company generated €220 million ($266 million) in revenue, representing a year-over-year increase of more than 15%. Alongside this revenue milestone, the studio maintained a strong operational efficiency, closing the year with an EBITDA margin of 29%.
The company’s growth was primarily driven by its portfolio of live titles, with the city-builder Forge of Empires serving as the leading contributor. Other key titles, including Tribal Wars, Elvenar, and Grepolis, also played significant roles in the firm's success. Notably, the long-running title Tribal Wars experienced a 24% growth in 2020, while Elvenar surpassed €100 million in lifetime revenue during the same period. Collectively, these titles contributed to a 13% increase in average revenue per daily active user (ARPDAU), with total player engagement exceeding 904 million hours.
Geographically, the United States, Germany, and France emerged as the top-performing markets for the publisher. The company attributes this sustained success to its cross-platform strategy, which allows for seamless integration between browser and mobile versions of its games. By leveraging live operations and regular content updates, InnoGames has successfully transitioned from its origins as a browser-focused developer to a major player in the mobile gaming sector. This strategic shift has been a consistent driver of the company's long-term financial health, supported by a workforce of approximately 400 employees managing seven active projects.
