Midwest Games, a video game publisher focused on supporting developers in the American Midwest and other underrepresented regions, has successfully secured $3.1 million in a recent funding round. The investment round was led by TitletownTech, a venture capital firm backed by the Green Bay Packers and Microsoft. Additional participants included Tundra Angels, Brightstar Wisconsin, Wisconsin Investment Partners, and Larry Treankler, the owner and CEO of Bay Tek Entertainment.
The funding round also marked a significant leadership development, as gaming personality and XSET co-owner Erin Ashley Simon joined the company as a co-owner. This appointment aligns with the publisher’s stated mission to create new revenue streams and opportunities for overlooked talent within the gaming industry. The company, which emerged from stealth in 2023, was co-founded by industry veterans Rob Martin III and Ben Kvalo, both of whom bring experience from major organizations such as 2K Games, Blizzard Entertainment, and Netflix.
Headquartered at the offices of its lead investor, TitletownTech, the publisher is currently prioritizing the development and release of its inaugural title, a 2D cooperative beat ‘em up game titled RA RA BOOM. Developed by the Cincinnati-based studio Gylee Games, this project serves as an early indicator of the company’s commitment to fostering regional development talent. By focusing on geographic areas that have historically lacked access to traditional publishing resources, the company aims to lower barriers to entry and promote broader participation in the gaming sector.
