The ESL FACEIT Group (EFG) will host the IEM in Beijing from November 2–8, 2026. This marks the event's first return to the city since 2019.
The ESL FACEIT Group (EFG) is expanding its presence in the Chinese market with the return of the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) tournament to Beijing. Scheduled for November 2–8, 2026, at the Bloomage Biotech·Biohyalux ECM Arena, the event marks the first time the brand has held a tournament in the capital since 2019. This initiative is organized in collaboration with the Beijing Esports Industry Development Association, aligning with the municipal government’s long-term strategy to establish Beijing as a prominent global esports hub.
The tournament will feature 16 Counter-Strike 2 teams competing for a total prize pool of $1.25 million, while also contributing to the ESL Grand Slam VII race. EFG anticipates an attendance of over 45,000 fans across the six-day event, which will utilize a 360-degree stage design—a first for an IEM event since 2022. The format continues a recent shift toward broader fan engagement, with the group stage open to the public to facilitate increased interaction through partner activations and player signing sessions.
This expansion reflects EFG’s ongoing commitment to the region following the 2025 IEM Chengdu event. While specific financial terms and sponsorship details remain undisclosed, the partnership underscores a strategic effort to scale live-event operations in China. By integrating local government support with high-profile international competition, EFG aims to solidify its footprint in the Asian esports landscape and leverage the growing demand for large-scale, in-person gaming experiences.
