GGTech Entertainment, a Spain-based organizer of multilingual esports events and tournaments, has secured $12.4 million USD in new funding. The investment was led by the Mexico City-based growth equity firm Glisco Partners, with additional participation from the investment firm Heart Beat. This capital infusion is intended to bolster the company’s existing operations across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and Latin America, while simultaneously fueling a strategic expansion into the United States market.
The company plans to leverage its established content production studios in Spain and Mexico to support its entry into the U.S. sector. Leadership at both GGTech and Glisco Partners identified the U.S. as a primary growth target, citing the increasing popularity of esports and the company’s proven business model as key drivers for the expansion. By utilizing existing alliances with major publishers and brands, GGTech aims to capture greater market share within the North American competitive gaming landscape.
This financial development coincides with broader shifts in the collegiate and scholastic esports sector. Specifically, the investment aligns with reports that Riot Games is transitioning the management of its collegiate and scholastic League of Legends and Valorant competitions to third-party operators. Industry analysis suggests that GGTech is positioned to secure the rights to manage these specific U.S.-based collegiate programs, further cementing its role as a significant player in the international esports ecosystem.
