The team, previously known as Minnesota ROKKR, will adopt the new moniker.
G2 Esports has officially rebranded its Call of Duty League (CDL) franchise, formerly known as Minnesota ROKKR, to G2 Minnesota. The team will begin competing under this new moniker starting with the 2026 season. While the organization will adopt the G2 brand identity, it intends to retain specific legacy iconography, including the purple Viking helmet associated with the original Minnesota ROKKR branding.
This strategic shift follows G2 Esports’ acquisition of the assets and operations of Version1 and its CDL franchise in December 2023. That transaction involved a partnership with an ownership group that included WISE Ventures—the investment arm of the Wilf family—and entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk. The Wilf family and other investors subsequently participated in a Series B funding round for G2 Esports in March 2025, further solidifying the relationship between the Berlin-based organization and the former Minnesota-based ownership group.
The rebrand reflects a broader trend of consolidation and identity alignment within the Call of Duty League, mirroring recent moves such as the rebranding of the Vegas Falcons to the Riyadh Falcons. G2 Esports continues to maintain a diverse competitive portfolio across titles including League of Legends, Counter-Strike 2, and Valorant, while simultaneously expanding its business operations through its media house agency, 62. This transition underscores G2’s ongoing efforts to unify its global brand presence across its various international esports assets.
