Create free accounthello and welcome to pocketgamer.biz this is our first time user experience channel and what we're playing the game we're playing today is as you is mighty crew so let's do what it says tap the screen to play okay materials from chess dismantling items seeing perhaps a crafting element is going to be happening to play okay okay rpg action as well crew to me that's just a squad
so we'll see if i'm right or not as you can tell i don't know very much about this game which i guess for the majority of first-time users this is not a game coming from a big publisher or a game that's had a lot of publicity so this is a and a game from an indie developer i guess a lot of people will come to this maybe through word of mouth so okay create character so it looks like the character i'm going to have is going to be berserker okay must be unique all right obviously you can see these mobile games lots of server-based stuff it's constantly
checking on the server to see what's going on so this is almost like a good messaging happening so there's like a world map there looks like my internet's not very fast so looks like some bad guys there it looks like me gonna have some fight kill trolls rescue me okay so can i do can i tap on the screen
leveling up characters collecting resources choosing how to use resources rescuing people like this building characters you can see there's some currency going on there some xp leveled up get the idea um like lots of games this is kind of kind of where the uh the cutting edge remember replay game design is the moment maybe not all this tech stuff i don't know health thing going on okay
so you can see you can see the going through the tutorial phase of actually not really letterbox but they've actually kind of masked you know they've really shown me what i can do there's no there's no way i could kind of get confused which is fine obviously you want to put this through the tutorial but equally it can be um if you have a two heart two hand held tutorial where people have to stop playing on their top of the screen
let's see what's going on there xp swords and gold activated auto and replaying a mission select my blacksmith world map across the top of the screen we can see there's an energy so we've got seven out of eight energy at the moment there's a lot now of tens of none of ten some sort of card system there's a twenty gems it looks like a hard currency and then 130 gold soft currency so you can see it's like a fairly kind of comprehensive free-to-play um
economic system going on there i'm going to use one of my energies to play the next bit there's a little chat okay special moves
is um potions
daily rewards this is very very standard for free play mobile games now and particularly when it's set up like this so i see i get the i get the um 10 10 health potions but then i can see the next day i'm going to get a thousand gold next day i'm gonna get whatever those scrolls are the next day it's really encouraging it's also um okay it's flashing
on with that so we can see this is this is taking a lot of the best practice of of um free to play games that was kind of i guess originated in asia now um same is right in a fantasy setting as a fantasy system um sci-fi fantasy setting but we're kind of seeing now that this car stuff is now very well understood
more complex much
more things to um quite impressive really i think um i mean it's people argue about definitions whether it's this would be kind of a core game or a mid-core game it's very hard to know exactly what mid-core game means compared to a core game um i guess you could say this is almost like a like between a mid-core and a core game rpg elements it's very layered in terms of what you're doing with resources and leveling and equipment and more heroes and and energy although of course we're in the early stages only level three so energy is not really a problem at the
moment um so um yeah we will play this the more i think for personal user experience for a lot of people even even the handheld into the tutorial would be quite complex it could be um seen as a little bit off-putting but i imagine for the this kind of game is not getting um he's not being have a massive marketing campaign it's much more word of mouth or you like rpgs maybe try this um so hope hopefully it finds its niche um but anyway that's uh i think that's enough for today but uh don't forget to subscribe to uh busy's youtube channel so we do a lot of this analysis of free to play games and if you subscribe you won't miss a thing so i hope to see you again soon okay see you soon you
Mighty Crew: Millennium Legend, an RPG developed by AminiLab, serves as a case study for onboarding mechanics within the free-to-play mobile market. The game utilizes a structured, guided tutorial phase that restricts player movement to specific interactive elements, effectively preventing user confusion during the initial ten minutes of gameplay. This approach ensures that players are introduced to core mechanics, such as character creation, resource management, and combat, in a controlled environment that minimizes the risk of early-stage abandonment.
The game’s economic structure reflects established industry standards, incorporating a dual-currency system consisting of soft currency (gold) and hard currency (gems), alongside an energy-based progression system. These features, combined with daily login rewards and a card-based hero collection mechanic, align with design trends popularized in Asian mobile markets. The gameplay loop emphasizes mid-core RPG elements, including character leveling, equipment management, and mission-based progression, which are designed to foster long-term engagement through layered resource systems.
While the tutorial is comprehensive, the complexity of the systems introduced early on may present a steep learning curve for casual players. However, given the game’s likely reliance on organic growth and word-of-mouth rather than large-scale marketing campaigns, the design appears tailored to a niche audience of RPG enthusiasts who are already familiar with these conventions. Ultimately, the title demonstrates a proficient application of industry best practices, balancing technical server-side requirements with a familiar, albeit dense, user experience designed to transition players from initial discovery to sustained play.
