Create free accounthello and welcome to rock gamer up busies youtube channel I'm done Jordan and this is our first time user experience playlist so we are loading up a new game from gree so agree in the West at least hasn't been doing very much recently and is actually not planning to do very much in the near future so it's gone through a bit of a kind of restructuring in the West and its kind of refocusing its attention on it's kind of cool japanese market and it's got a lot of developer focus in japan for making games for japan let's not say the west the understands the west is is kind of important even though it's not doing a lot of stuff within the west or what I say in the West I mean games developed by Western diversen developers for the Western audience primarily but this is one that is coming out so a couple years ago 2013 I think
um there's a game called League of war which is kind of an interesting kind of battle are kind of base battler game with kind of I mean you look looking at now is it kind of has elements of clash for arousal is kind of you know there's an elixir energy that you use and there were cards that you leveled up it was contemporary military or contemporary future military and this is leak of war mercenaries so a sequel I guess to a degree because League war did okay it didn't quite have massively long legs and grieve didn't really push it very much but this they kind of refined it a bit hopefully so here we are we just tied up so here's a general Livingston that's what generals look like there we go short instructional mission get a free gift so taste got a way to tap anywhere
light a precept aptima that's odd so we deploy units there so let's move this out the way so I'm going to tap on my infantry unit and I'm gonna deploy it so that's the enemy base is my base there goes my infantry we see this little kind of mini map at the bottom now I'm going to tap on a tank you see the enemy's deployed some troops as well as those troops are going to fight each other so we have the deploy cost so it deployed credits so this is kind of one of the big gameplay elements is as with with anything with them kind of a kind of auto feeding resource you know do you do I borrow a cup to two sets of troops will do i wait for a tank personnel paranoia obviously get the rock paper scissors think that troops are good against some things that tanks are good to give pretty much everything apart when the tank destroyer comes into I've
been deployed its again see this is the first kind of mission you play so give you pretty straightforward like one in the and get phone for getting of the helicopters and anti air vehicles and let's come stuff something see in terms of what I've won a once and HP of on some scrap that's look look it up is going to be useful to up upgrade things campaign key fragment and the campaign chest so loading times great we go out another um slightly funky young lady tell me something keys so got some campaign fragments use them so okay so we start to see Kim like clash Royale Chester canopy I get
fragments to have keys and unlock chest so there's my chess i unlock it I click the big tank they're sitting there so there's my that's a different tank isn't it ok anyway so here we can see now um so free chests campaign chest ray chests all different reward little different rewards first mission ok its campaign map rustling missions go so this is go up to go through to tour even though it's appealing to I guess it will be cooked my koala medical audiences probably taking me through press here press here which sometimes I think can be a little bit um so this is the one this is the tank I just unlock can be a little bit disheartening but anyway so that's my squad and we can see what the enemy squad is tech none more obviously
moment I'm playing the kind of tutorial its PVE EP player versus environment a single blemish in obviously this PvP is the big thing at the moment these my combat visor who's gonna tell me what I need to put in so but merely we can see so deployed recon unit so she strong its inventory I would employ my green tank against the Vikan so we can really start to see how we lay these things up so that's just going to be toasted you need to see the hidden lives in the hip points so he's far quicker and hitting at 32 but I'm firing at 200 men fractures units so they're saying okay so even within others any seller rock-paper-scissors works at Vulcan units and strong against infantry I'll been your strong against tanks so everything strong against anything else that's the nature of good
game design talking far from infantry just too because this tank won't be particularly useful against infantry saying I didn't get too bad job if there was an empty tank infantry which it would probably be then that wouldn't be great they would tow my tank and I'm going to wait until we can also see that on the redeployed I've got enough units to deploy not a tank but there's a there's a timeout on when you deployed one unit from the tank and one unit from a civic type of unit it's not just waiting on the resources also waiting on that individual unit to be refreshed and available to be deployed again the time boosters to speed up tasks again that's expected really in a free-to-play game that we would have some sort of time element that's come from kinda keep our mothers in loop then upgrade my units
the officer's club my free chest that's what sort of form can do it didn't move somewhere else so this free chest for me oh when I got there he looks like Eliza momentum are you okay it says my orientation so let's move this way so this is basically now and left to my own devices this is the screen I will see quite abstract real isn't it and again lucky in in these games tempted quite a bit going on at the top the screen we can see resources so there's a hard resource the gold some soft resources the bolts and some money and some oil it's an energy as well I don't know what these three designers in town than or what those do yet power VIP
status a VIP is very popular in Asia the VIP level you get gives you kind of acts like a subscription really so the high vop you get you might get it get a XP boost on every XP you earn or you might get kind of them different currencies oh you're logging day looking bonus might be bed up yeah I'm SOCOM's thing here sir yeah set some that isn't it server maintenance Justin heights but the downloads some people are having them I gable that's the that's the problems of success so we can also see this retain going on here so there's a special unit pack that's going to be 17 pounds or is it going to be roughly with $25 get some keys some gold at the moment this is kind of difficult to retell this so I don't really know the power I assume with those there's four key things they're going to unlock me kind of stupid lipa chests and click on that general Chesler
supposedly high-powered goal don't really know the value of gold all I've got very much at the moment so I guess quite difficult to me to ascertain the actual value of that at the moment maybe they could be a better job actually telling me often I think it's sometimes help when i get again a kind of trapper to say there's a special offer this chest is gonna be worth twenty pounds and we're giving it to you for five pounds as a one-off deal that could be quite helpful I guess this sir thing exactly the same thing again so this one is actually saying 225 sent extra but it's still that still quite abstract I think I think just a value thing we all do to that you want to understand that kind of retailing at me normally hundred pounds get it for 2999 today so there we go don't have to go too far into the game in our first time user experience it's basically really getting a taste of playing through the first bit of tutorial so this was pretty quick to go through again the gameplay in these type of games is not super difficult is much
more about the metagame than about the gameplay itself although there is as we can see some basic kind of all pixies of stuff a bit of technics about what unit you would use at the same what you would use at any one point when you've gotten resources so we will see how Bree gets on with with the reboot of of this game all I guess the phone you can call it a franchise legal at league of war legal more merciless so that's out now interestingly kind of it kind of snuck out a little bit there wasn't haven't got any featuring from the app stores it didn't really get much PR push from green I think there's been a bit of kind of user acquisition activity in terms of people seeing stuff on Twitter Sony we've seen some stuff on twitter but not seen a lot elsewhere so will be interesting to see it's been in soft launch for a while look the game which is kind of how we found out about it but we interesting to see how how much
appeal the old franchise has and I mean we do know how to operate these kind of games so I don't imagine it would be a doing enormous number of downloads but it could be kind of on those kind of niche successes again as tends to be the case with these situation depends on the PvP so we'll keep an eye on that will keep playing it and if we think there's more to say we will do another video on monetize a series which what goes a bit more depth about the game after we've been playing it for some maybe some two weeks so I don't forget to subscribe text watching this video and I hope to see you again soon
League of War: Mercenaries serves as a contemporary military base-battler reboot developed by MunkyFun and published by GREE. The game functions as a successor to the 2013 title League of War, refining the original mechanics to align with modern free-to-play standards. The primary gameplay loop centers on a resource-managed, lane-based combat system where players deploy units—such as infantry, tanks, and anti-air vehicles—using a credit-based energy system. Success in these encounters relies on a rock-paper-scissors tactical mechanic, requiring players to counter specific enemy unit types while managing individual unit cooldowns and deployment costs.
The user experience begins with a guided tutorial that introduces core mechanics, including unit deployment, base management, and the acquisition of rewards through campaign chests and fragments. Beyond the tactical combat, the game features a complex metagame involving unit upgrades, squad composition, and a multi-currency economy consisting of gold, bolts, and oil. The title also incorporates common industry monetization strategies, such as VIP subscription tiers, time-based boosters for speeding up tasks, and various in-app purchase bundles.
The game reflects a broader shift in GREE’s corporate strategy, which has moved away from Western-focused development to prioritize the Japanese market. Despite this, the title was released globally with minimal public relations support or app store featuring, relying instead on targeted user acquisition. While the game provides a functional introduction to its mechanics, the abstract nature of its premium currency and bundle pricing presents a potential barrier for new users. Ultimately, the long-term viability of the title depends on its ability to foster a competitive player-versus-player environment, as the core gameplay is secondary to the depth of its metagame and monetization systems.
