Summary

The Esports World Cup Foundation has secured a partnership with the Riyadh-based telecommunications provider stc Group, designating the company as an elite and founding partner for the inaugural Esports World Cup. This multi-week, multi-discipline tournament is scheduled to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, spanning eight weeks from July 3 to August 25, 2024. While the specific financial terms of the agreement remain undisclosed, the partnership positions stc Group as the digital backbone of the event, responsible for providing essential broadband connectivity and facilitating fan engagement through specialized SIM card activations.

The Esports World Cup features a substantial $60 million USD prize pool and encompasses a wide range of competitive titles, including major industry staples such as Dota 2, League of Legends, Counter-Strike 2, and various mobile and console-based titles. This collaboration aligns with the broader strategic development of the event, which is funded by a grant from the Saudi Arabian government and managed by the ESL FACEIT Group, a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund-owned Savvy Games Group.

This announcement follows a series of recent commercial developments for the tournament, including partnerships with global brands such as Adidas and KitKat, as well as the appointment of Bayes Esports as the official match data supplier. By integrating stc Group’s infrastructure, the organizers aim to enhance the digital experience for both global audiences and on-site attendees, further establishing the tournament’s presence within the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
