Esports Stadium Arlington, owned by OpTic Gaming, will host the CECC Texas Finals. The event is scheduled for May 6–7, 2023.
Collegiate Sports Management Group and ESPORTSU have announced that the OpTic Gaming-owned Esports Stadium Arlington in Texas will host the Collegiate Esports Commissioner’s Cup (CECC) Texas Finals. Scheduled for May 6–7, 2023, the event serves as the culmination of a national collegiate circuit, featuring 64 teams from across the United States. Participating institutions will compete in a variety of titles, including Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Overwatch 2, Rocket League, and Valorant.
The tournament structure includes a multi-day itinerary beginning May 5 with a red carpet ceremony, media day, and jersey presentations. Qualifying rounds will take place on May 6, followed by semi-finals and grand finals on May 7. The event also incorporates broader industry engagement, featuring partner activations, a technology expo, cosplay contests, celebrity meet-and-greets, and a live awards show.
The path to the Texas Finals involves a series of regional qualifiers held throughout the spring, including events at Boise State University. This regional structure follows earlier competitions held in the South and East regions. The final seeding for the 64-team bracket will be determined during a dedicated selection show on May 2. While the event focuses on competitive collegiate play, organizers intend to integrate various entertainment and industry-focused elements to enhance the overall experience for attendees.
