Egyptian indie developer Gilded Games has announced its debut commercial project, Crown’s Trial, a fantasy-themed boss rush game. Developed by a two-brother team based in Egypt, the title is currently scheduled for a PC release via Steam in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The game distinguishes itself from traditional linear action titles by offering players complete freedom to choose the order in which they challenge legendary opponents. Each boss encounter serves as a self-contained experience, transporting the player to a unique world characterized by distinct visual aesthetics, specialized mechanics, and specific combat abilities. Beyond its core gameplay loop, the project incorporates a fully voiced and illustrated narrative designed to provide context for the legendary figures encountered throughout the journey.
As the studio’s first commercial endeavor, Crown’s Trial reflects the developers' transition from lifelong gaming enthusiasts to active creators. While specific pricing and a firm release date remain unannounced, the project highlights the ongoing growth of the independent development scene within the African games industry.
